My daughter and I popped into DiBella's recently, per her suggestion. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE DiBella's. Their subs are the best I've ever eaten. Mondays are my grocery shopping day, and since she was with me, I decided to let her choose somewhere for lunch. I was thrilled she chose DiBella's. My absolute favorite thing to get is their lobster bisque. Holy moly. It is the best I've ever eaten. That bisque with a side of garlic toast is so yummy, especially in the cold winters here in Rochester, NY. I also like to get their Boss panini from time-to-time. I was sad to see that the option for a sandwich and soup combo had been taken off the menu, but things change, I guess. On this particular visit though, I got The Old-fashioned. It was a warm November day, and soup didn't feel right. Only a cold sub would do. The meats are turkey, ham, and genoa salami. I chose sesame bread, with provolone cheese, and added lettuce, red onion, mayo, mustard, and oil. I paired that sandwich with a bag of baked lays and unsweetened tea. Yep. It hit the spot. So stinking good. And this is my favorite DiBella's in Rochester. I've been to others, but they lack a certain atmosphere about them. Food is the same, but ambience is not. Y'all come on out for some delicious food. And end your meal with one of Grandma's cookies. Wowzer. You will...
Read moreAfter seven years of living in Europe, the one thing I craved, almost above anything else was a sub sandwich from none other than the DiBella’s, the best subs on the planet.
I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, a 7-inch meatball on a seedless roll with mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan and light on the sauce. A cup of lobster bisque with a slice of garlic bread, chocolate chip cookie, and a Pepsi.
The quality of their subs is astounding everything from the bread to the sauce to the homemade Italian meatballs. As everybody likely knows, Wegmans the local grocer, purchased the recipe from the DiBellas some years ago, but they were not able to purchase the meatball recipe, which is arguably the best in the world.
The bread is always baked fresh. The ingredients are always the best you can get. Each sub is prepared to order and delivered timely and professionally.
The lobster bisque is the best I have ever had.
Clearly, I am biased after having lived in the area for a lot of years, but even with all of that nostalgia, there is little arguing that these subs are the best...
Read moreSo, I like this place. I come here pretty often. I have no serious complaints about the food or service.
Today (Monday 2/26) however, I saw something that disturbed me enough I felt compelled to review.
I was in at almost exactly noon. While standing at the counter, I overheard a woman who I presume to be the manager shout “employee get over here!” When the employee came over, the woman said “you need to slow your a** down!”
The rest was indecipherable, but the first 2 statements were so very disrespectful, and loud enough to be heard in the entire establishment. Her general demeanor was that of a parent scolding a 5 year old child.
I could tell by the reaction of the other employees that this is perhaps a regular occurrence.
I’ve worked in food service for years, I understand that it gets busy, things are stressful, but I still found it unnecessary to berate this young man in front of his coworkers and customers. It demonstrated a lack of professionalism that left a bad taste...
