I want to love this place, truly do. ( If you’re looking for quality Colombian food, travel the 15 min to El Patron in Bayside or go to the source in Jackson Heights). This is the only restaurant offering Latin cuisine in the Great Neck area and helps bring some flavor to the area but unfortunately does not do a good job at representing authentic Colombian food. They’ve recently expanded their location and the Quality of the food has not improved. Because of this I cannot possibly recommend this place. I gave three stars because they just started their expansion and maybe need time to organize ingredients and a new menu. For many years this was a quick bite type of place and has transformed to a sit down joint where you can order specialized drinks. So I’m hoping the menu is revised and the owners focus on dishes that can wow and offer improvements where needed. If you’re going to offer ceviche on the menu it should be locally sourced ingredients and as fresh as possible. If that’s not the case it shouldn’t be served. If you are going to serve French fries as a side then those French fries should be whole and not look like the bottom bits of a frozen bag. This is the first Latin American restaurant I’ve been to where beans were not served with my steak and rice. I actually received a dish of rice and French fries(double the carb load) served on the same dish. There is no doubt the owners are hard working but maybe it’s time to dish out the money and find a better...
Read moreI came here with my mom and grandma and I'm so sad I paid so much for something that doesn't taste as good. There are better options but it was expensive for the quality. My grandma is Hispanic and she did not like her food. The beans were cold by the time I ate them they were not served steamy hot I think they served it to me warm then turned cold a few minutes later. The beans were too salty like they used too much Goya on them. The rice was basic and white and boring. The meat was basic nothing amazing, it tasted like a quick meal your mom would make except my mom cooks better. The empanadas were hard on the outer corners I got a chicken one and beef and the chicken was dry, if that is how empanadas taste I am disappointed this is my first time in a Colombian restraunt. My grandma said she wouldn't eat it again even if they were giving it away. I guess if you are used to average basic food or your mom cooks bleh then this would taste...
Read moreI don't understand the majority of the bad reviews (except for the pregnant woman, I feel really sorry for her) but I know for me and my mother, we had a blast with our takeout order experience. I had a neurology appointment in the area and saw this place when I came off the LIRR earlier in the day. My mom ordered the chicken empanandas and she loved them. I ordered the grilled chicken with rice, beans and maduros instead of French fries. It also came with a salad. I loved how hot my food was when I got to my mom's apartment. The flavor profile was great and you know a place cares about their food when they get their beans perfect. The decor is authentic and it was great for all of the ethnic groups to be represented-the indigenous, the Afro Colombians and so on. I also love how my family's favorite beers are on tap. I plan on bringing my Colombian in laws to this restaurant. It is a slice of Colombia. I...
