Thomas's Ham & Eggery is unique, I guess it has a following🤔. Overall I gave this restaurant only 4 stars. This is because once you walk past the intimidating long lines outside and the over crowded parking lot, you'll come to realize just like i did that in some restaurants there is Quality and Tranquility, and there is HYPE. The Hype here is seeing long lines. I ordered a spinach feta cheese omelette with home fries (sliced potatoes) and buttered rye toast. I liked the presentation of my meal which came in a steel frying pan and separate plate for my toast. *My meal was actually good, but I am not sure if my omelette had feta cheese in it? I honestly didn't see any cheese ? The waitress poured coffee after coffee for me but still tasted like water. They are very attentive to coffee refills but at the cost of a watered down version?, NO THANKS. I would like to recommend that if you get a seat at the counter instead of a table you will bypass the long ridiculous lines. That is exactly what I did and the service was actually faster and more attentive. PARKING: Now that can be an issue so take the side streets like Mitchell Avenue and Landsdown Avenue & read the parking signs. Obviously the residents don't want you to park on their streets, but on the weekend you are GOOD . BATHROOMS: looked dated and were separated by a woman's and a men's which can only occupy one at a time. All in all I would have to say that this restaurant does a decent job in getting you to your food faster only because they are a bit smaller in stature than their counterparts larger more comfortable diners. I personally didn't like the exacerbated lines and the irritating parking. I just want to sit and eat with friends without all the HYPE. *THE REVIEW GURU Long Island NY

This is a pretty average place. Granted, I spent a few years in Rhode Island, which is the birthplace of the modern American diner. In summary, I wouldn't come back because it's somewhat expensive for what it is and nothing particularly stood out (in a positive nor negative way). Also, I had a questionable interaction at the end of my visit. I visited rather early in the morning and was warmly greeted and promptly offered coffee. The decor struck me as very "typical" diner with plasticky/cracked fake leather seating on the booths. The air pleasantly did not have excessive "grease" smell, although I did visit around opening time. I ended up ordering the corned beef hash special. At $11 (+ $1.05 tax), I don't particularly think that this place is a one "$" establishment. I liked that the potatoes arrived crispy. Your food also comes in its own little stainless steel sautée pan, for those germaphobes out there. Most diners I've visited prepares their food on a shared griddle space, so this individual serving was a unique surprise. It also came with a coffee (bottomless) and two slices of toast. I asked for rye with butter on the side, but oddly, it tasted like white bread and buttery. I don't really care though. To its credit, this place undersalts its food. I truly love this because I am able to adjust my seasoning at the table, whereas at most diner establishments, the food is over-salted and I feel pretty lousy afterward because of the sodium overload. Something that rubbed me the wrong way was related to my being a racial minority woman(but born and raised in the USA, well-educated, and speaks fluent English without an accent). At the end of my meal, I asked for a line item on the hand-written tab to be clarified -- sorry, it's hard to read certain people's handwriting! It ended up being the tax, but instead of just saying "It's the tax", the cashier/waitress lady said "It is the tax. This is common everywhere in the United States." At that moment, it struck me that aside from the Mexican cooks in the back, I was the only minority in this establishment -- at least, at that hour of the day. I don't think she realized the micro-aggression but it certainly didn't make me want to return any time soon. Maybe I'll come back if a visitor really wants to eat at a diner, but I think I would rather serve breakfast from my home at that price point.

Anyone who doesn’t give Thomas’s 5 stars, must be a Thomas’s newbie, and must have no idea how Thomas’s works, because Thomas’ is the BEST breakfast spot on Long Island. A breakfast at Thomas’s goes like this. You walk in (try to keep your party 2-4 people it’s best for small groups), you go into the little waiting box and put your name in. They are phenomenal at recognizing familiar faces and even though the wait is usually 30-40 min it usually drops to 10 minutes sooner. You can expect unlimited hot coffee from the sweetest coffee pourers on the earth, particularly Jose who always asks me how my family is doing with the sweetest smile in the world. He makes sure that my coffee cup stays filled for the entirety of my breakfast. Next, you go to Thomas’s for breakfast food, not for lunch. Their breakfast food is what makes them so phenomenal. Their eggs are always fresh and they serve their breakfast platters on skillets so the presentation is always delicious and outstanding. My favorite is 2 eggs over easy, with bacon, toast, and hash browns with a side of strawberries. It’s absolutely scrumptious, warm, soothing, and comfort-y in the best way possible. They also have THE BEST warmed sour cream coffee cake in the universe. My cells dance and sing when I have their coffee cake. Thomas’s somehow always has room for everyone and never rushes people out either. They are magical in that way. Staff is amazing always. I love Thomas’s SO much!!! Been here a hundred times and will be back for more! If you liked this review, feel free to check us out on Instagram for more Long Island adventures @andiamoadventure

This USED to be my go-to diner for the past decade. However, i’m NEVER coming here again. I had a server named Gina (old lady with curly brown hair & plastic black glasses) and she was the WORSE. She slammed extra utensils down on the table that we asked for without saying a word, forgot our toast and just threw the WRONG toast on the table without making eye contact or saying anything, she wasn’t attentive, or friendly, and had an attitude towards my colleagues & I our entire time there. I thought she was having a bad day until I saw her laughing and sitting down in the booth with other guest (who happened to be old & white like her). As you can see in the photo below, my egg melt sandwich that I’ve ordered 100’s of times was disappointing and gross. The potatoes were RAW, the cheese on the sandwich wasn’t melted at ALL, and the avocado was clearly brown…. It’s called an “egg MELT” HELLO??? NO EFFORT was put into making the food + the terrible attitude we all decided to leave no tip (something we’ve NEVER done). After paying the bill, Gina aggressively YELLS across the diner “you don’t tip?” in front of everyone. We were right about her. How professional. Don’t try shaming us for your horrible attitude. I’m not sure who’s going to go here once the oldies pass. Good luck & good riddance.

It's a small place with lots of close seating. Very busy, for good reason. You don't come here for the atmosphere, you come hete for the food. We were seated quickly and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Started with some really good coffee which includes free refills, they conecaround a lot to jeep your cup filled. My wife had scrambled eggs with cheese, homefries and Applewood bacon. I had 2 eggs over medium instead of scrambled. We also got rye toast. The toast was from a large fresh loaf and was, well, toasted. The eggscand home fries are served on a sizzling hot skillet. My basic eggs over medium had a slightly smoked flavor. Not overwhelming, just enough to be interesting and was unexpected. I was pleasantly surprised. The hone fries were extremely good with all the usual bits of onions, peppers, etc mixed in. Best of all it wasn't at all salty. You can always add salt if you need it, but you can't take it away. The Applewood bacon was crispy and also not salty. I love bacon this way. I added a light drizzle of maple syrup to the bacon and really enjoyed it. They have a good sized menu with lots of interesting dishes. Thursday is chicken pot pie day fir example. My wife and I really enjoyed our simple but delicious meal. Highly recommended.

Service was super quick and friendly! The menu was a little big for how fast they were expecting you to order. I think as new comers you’ll have to sit with the menu for a bit since there was so many great options to pick from! A great place to people watch and enjoy the experience of locals coming in and ordering their usual or even see the small interaction between frequent visitors with the staff. They had baked pies, muffins, and cookies that are freshly baked everyday! Again soooo many options to choose from that I wish I could frequent this place if I was a local. We came in on a Monday @10am, so we weren’t expecting a crowd. But it was fairly busy! (GREAT SIGN) Enough to keep their small parking lot full and their dining area full! Their service was fast enough that there was barely any wait time - I went with a friend so we sat at the counter and there was no wait. I expect that if you’re with a party to have a wait time of no longer than 10-15min Food was great! I got their seasonal autumn hash which comes with grits. I’m not a big fan of grits so I can’t comment on how good it was, but if I can get a plate of just the autumn hash I would! 10/10 recommend. My only regret is I didn’t graba dozen cookies and muffins and a pie to go.
