Interesting restaurant in a somewhat bad location I think... Nestled in a plaza that is not overly busy. From the outside it looks like a typical storefront pizza joint. Inside it's sort of a weird, cool mix of modern industrial with a mix of high top and regular tables, glass partitions and painted pipes behind the bar... And old school flat iron with a modern tile version of knocked tin ceilings... Kind of contradictory but fun and welcoming I think. Nice little bar too.
The food is typical of the trend of a deli style pizza assembly line with some unique sauces, cheeses and toppings that you don't see in an old school pizza shop. I went with a spicy red, mozzarella, banana peppers, mushrooms and black olives. Thin crust, nicely cooked and very tasty (gluten free is available.) There is a selection of fountain drinks of the cane sugar variety and a decent selection of bottle and craft beers, wine and milk shakes too.
The staff was awesome! Very friendly and helpful. They were engaging and interactive, joining in conversation and joking with us. Very refreshing.
Loved the game on over the bar but didn't care for the somewhat too loud, really bad music... Which I expect that other people love... So not really a drawback.
This type of pizza place seems to be the latest trend. It won't replace my favorite old school pizza shop but definitely nice for an occasional change of pace. Give them a try. You'll likely be happy...
Read morePizzeria Favo remade itself in 2017, ditching the big bags of flour piled on the floor in favor of new tall, large tables with barstools and a plexiglass bordered corridor to place orders and watch your pizza get assembled. The makeover is not an improvement, creating cramped quarters with uncomfortable seating. The booths are better.
The menu has been redone to emphasize preconceived pizza options, although the Create Your Own remains an option. Puck's brand "small batch" soda is still here but the self serve frozen custard/soft serve ice cream is gone. (There is a soft serve machine in the food prep area for milkshakes.)
The crust options - regular white, ancient grain and whole wheat are the same as the old Favo, but it is evident they are skimping a lot more on the toppings than before. The red onion and green pepper toppings were about 2 tbsp. each. The grilled onion topping consisted of not more than five limp strings of onion. The sausage fared the worst. After picking it off, it barely amounted to a tablespoon. Not impressed.
Although well staffed, the pizza minder was frequently distracted and we ended up with overdone pizza with a scorched crust. There were at least six people working and not more than four customers at tables, and this still managed to happen.
If these lapses were corrected and the topping rationing was an aberation, I would give them 4 stars. The furniture change is still...
Read moreThe family and I stopped in here for dinner. If you haven’t been here before they have menus in the front of the restaurant and by the register. You order your food at the register and then they ask you where you want to sit and they will assign you a table. Then you sit and wait for the food to be brought to you.
A little confusing at first but it’s easy enough to figure out. We ordered the buffalo chicken, margarita, and the meat lovers. We went on a Friday night and these came out really fast. I would guess in less than 10 minutes.
The pizzas were good. They are 11 inches so they aren’t quite a personal pizza but they wouldn’t feed 2 people either. We had 4 of us and 3 pizzas worked out. I was there with my wife and two daughters so if you have boys it could easily be one for each person!
The pizzas were good. I would say it’s Neapolitan style which isn’t my favorite but it was still good. The meat lovers had onions on it which I liked. The Buffalo chicken had good flavor to the sauce. And the margarita pizza I didn’t get to try because Charlie ate the whole thing except the crust. She did allow me to eat the crust though!
I do have to say the drinks we had taste a little off. The diet cola tasted like it had root beer in it and the unsweetened iced tea I had tasted like it had a mild peach flavor.
Overall it was a good quick stop for dinner on a Friday night which isn’t...
