I'm only sorry that I can't give this place 0 stars. The waitress served my kids sour milk and after they had both tried it, came back to say "I just now looked at the date on that, please don't drink it." This was before we even told her it was bad, so she clearly knew. I ordered a quesadilla that was very served very obviously burned; the side of sour cream had the consistency of runny salad dressing. Afywr 2 bites, I realized the meal was entirely inedible. When I told the waitress her response was," I'll let them know." Not sure who "them" is, but perhaps it would have been more appropriate to offer to make me a new meal (she didn't) or take the burnt monstrosity off of my bill (again, she didn't). I could have overlooked our table being wiped down with a dirty rag when I asked that it be cleaned and the tremendously long waits if they were the only issues. But, since they clearly weren't I just say avoid at all costs!!! EDIT TO THE OWNER: While I appreciate your reply, be honest. There was NOT one server working the entire restaurant tonight as you claim (at least not when we were there). There were at least two people working. I distinctly remember this because I was amazed and a little jealous that the table sitting behind us came in well after we did but, because they were being waited on by a different and more attentive server, left before us. More specifically, they were walking out as we were patiently waiting for our check while our server was engaged in chit chat with the bartenders.. She was in full view of our table - not picking up drinks, just talking. The check never came, BTW. After 15 or so minutes of waiting, my husband went and got it. Longer turnover is less money in your pockets. I'm well aware of the shortages which is why my family goes out of our way to eat at independently owned establishments instead of chains. And, if waiting was the only issue I would not complain. But, I refuse to wait for burnt, garbagy food that is not rectified when brought to the attention of staff. I stand by my review, I won't be back and I recommend others...
Read moreNot a good place for lunch groups I went with coworkers, and we were the only group in the restaurant at lunch for the first 40 minutes. The waitress forgot about my drink and only checked with everyone else for refills once in the 1.5 hours we were there for lunch. I was the last person to receive my lunch (grilled cheese), and asked her about my drink and finally got it. My meal was supposed to have potato chips, but it had tortilla chips. She checked back after a while and I asked about it. She told me that the house made potato chips were being made, and she decided (without asking) to substitute tortilla chips so I could get my food and not have to wait for the chips. She did NOT apologize, and she did not offer to bring potato chips when they were done, or give me an option for any other substitute. I would rather have had the option to upcharge for fries than get tortilla chips that I won't eat and will get wasted. It took 90 minutes from arrival to finally being able to pay our checks and leave. If you work downtown, that's nowhere near fast enough to be a work lunch. We mostly ordered burgers and sandwiches, nothing unusual or particularly time consuming. They had just one waitress and one cook. The worst part was the unapologetic attitude. I'm very forgiving about being busy, or not having something ready, but a genuine apology is absolutely necessary. She acted like I should be grateful for her decision to throw tortilla chips on my meal so I wouldn't have to wait even longer for my sandwich. Thanks,...
Read moreMy husband and I have enjoyed all our visits to Thirsty Fish except for our visit last night at 5:30. The food has always been excellent as well as the service. We split an order of nachos and shrimp (the shrimp was amazing) but the nachos were cold. We were sitting outside and were told by our waiter that it must be because we were eating outside and they got cold (it was 60 degrees outside). My first bite of food was the nachos so they sat on my plate maybe 30 seconds. We each had a few more bites because we're not ones to complain but then we realized they needed to be sent back. The waiter was not apologetic but did offer to reheat them. We ended up getting a new order and these too were cold...not even lukewarm, cold! The waiter had a poor attitude about the situation, almost insinuating that WE had done something wrong! After the second bad batch he did come out and say that the pork pot wasn't turned on so that's why they were cold. We were given 50% off the shrimp so that was nice but the waiter should have been apologetic right away not later when he had to eat crow. Had this been our first visit to Thirsty Fish we would never go back. We will be back though because we just had a waiter with an off night and a cook who was off his game. All forgiven but next time please.....when a customer complains about the food, make it right w/o accusing the customer of eating too much of that food and APOLOGIZE IMMEDIATELY not once the bill is...
