What a great local diner!

The place doesn't look like much and, in fact, it looks like it would benefit from a thorough spring cleaning. However, the selection is vast, the food is tasty, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

We went for breakfast and chose to sit at the counter as the restaurant was filled to capacity. It gave us a front-seat view of the open (mostly) open kitchen. We were quickly greeted and provided menus and drinks and our server followed up soon afterward. We had a few questions about the menu and our server was happy to provide answers and offer suggestions.

We choose the Biscuits and Gravy with eggs over medium and the Chicken and Waffles with a side of scrambled eggs. As many here have mentioned, the home fries are awesome! Just a tad bit crunchy but still tender inside with the right amount of seasoning. The gravy is flavorful and filled with chunky pieces of sausage.

The chicken looked to be pounded to an even thickness - something I really like and probably for easier cooking. Its ever-so-slight crust is packed with tasty seasonings. A bit of crunch on the outside and still tender and juicy inside. I tend to like my the same way - a tad bit crunchy shell with a fluffy inside; it fell short on the crunch. The waffle came with a sweet chili sauce - a bit spicy, definitely sweet, and tasty enough that we brought the rest of it home with us.

The couple next to us ordered eggs and hash and the Goodway Cinnamon Roll French Toast. I had asked about the hash - if they made it in-house, which they do not. Regardless, our 'neighbor' said it was a very good hash and recommended it. The French Toast looked to be heavily dipped in egg but they said it is a 'must try' menu item as she said was delicious.

The reason for 4 stars is the eggs. The over-medium eggs were a bit underdone and the scramble was a bit overdone.

The diner offers baked goods, specialty coffees/espresso bar, milkshakes, an extensive lunch menu, and a full bar.

And how could a menu be complete without a Trojan Omelette? Some reviewers say it's perfect to share with someone - a task we put on our to-do list. Nine eggs, three cheese, sausage, veggies, and smothered in gravy. How can you pass that up?

Observation: Credit to the kitchen worker who was constantly changing his gloves. It seemed he was very aware of when he would contaminate his gloved hand/hands and would then swap out his gloves. In this day and age, they should all be as conscious as...

1st time ever and before I ordered I thought what a cool place located downtown upbeat with a old time flare to it. Been there since early 1900s so I am with my fiance and our son. I am from the south.... so everything is quite different but service shouldn't be.... I ordered the sausage gravy biscuts with eggs and asked for my eggs to be on the side.. our son ordered their original hamburger and asked for cheese... and my fiance got the cinnamon bun French toast... Ok not sure when cinnamon buns came with cream cheese but if you didn't specify it on the menu as an ingredient..... don't add it. 2 if I asked specifically for eggs on the side and the same waitress that you ordered from brings them out to you and said I told them on the side and they put them on top anyways.... maybe you should have made sure it was right and not bring them out wrong and act like I needed to just deal with it. And when asked where the cheese was on the burger you say that burger doesn't come with cheese even after he ordered it with cheese. And push it off like it was his fault.....I do t know what kinda of restaurant training these people got as far as service etiquette out waitress sucked..... also if your gonna sell something on your menu that says southern biscuts and sausage gravy please visit the south first before you sell it your way..... southern is make your own buttermilk biscuts and not use bagged pre-made gravy.. the taste shows in your food .. wanna be a great restaurant and diner.... you have the atmosphere but your service and food isn't up to par.... I give a fair review an honest one you do have potential but things have to change. Under a new partner that obviously has great taste in design and decor... like the soda jerk style bar... classic..love it... fix...

If I could leave a 0 star review I would . Me and my boyfriend had to sit ourselves down . No one came to sit us down . 5 mins later the waiter asks us if we want drinks .The drinks took 10 mins to come to the table . 10 mins later the waiter gave us forks then it took 30 mins to get our food . We waited around and people who came in 20 mins after us were already served and eating ,almost finishing their meals . When they finally delivered our meal to the table , it was done one plate at a time. We waited 10-15 mins between each plate ,so by the time our whole meal ,came the eggs were cold so was the bacon and everything else . Not to mention ,it was really hard to get the waiters attention .The home fries were dry and it was really hard to ask for ketchup because the waiters wasn’t attentive. We finished our drinks before the meal and was not asked if we wanted refills at all . We ended up ditching the meal and when we explained the situation to the next waiter he charged us half price , which was the best part of our experience. However ,the mediocre food wasn’t worth the time that we spent waiting .We will not be going back...
