Well my glowing 5 star review that has lasted a consistent 3 or 4 years is coming down. One of the reasons for the 5 star was their amazing consistency and quality. I mean, it was uncanny how consistent and great this Chili's was. Tonight that changes.
We ordered our usual for pickup, trio fajitas, extra tortillas. The same thing we have been ordering for years with little to no mistakes and never a dip in quality. Sure the price has gone up but the quality has always made it worth it. Until now.... This was disgusting. Disgusting!
The chicken was OBVIOUSLY reheated scraps, reheated to a dried crisp. Rock hard. I LITERALLY CHOKED trying to swallow it. Not exaggerating at all it literally stuck in my throat. There was charing on the cut sides of the shrunken slices, so theres no mistaking that this was chicken precooked and presliced, then put back into a frying pan or microwaved. They were tough, dried to the point of tasting like freeze-dried astronaut food. Usually you get a half a juicy breast with slices cut into it. Just opening the box you knew immediatly something was wrong becuase is was all mismatched precooked scraps. The biggest piece (I have pictures but cannot seem to upload them) was the size of the smallest piece when this is made correctly. Leathery, dry, microwaved chicken jerkey.
Truthfully, I would not be surprised if they had scraped this chicken off of other people's plates throughout the night, then reheated it. The whole dish seemd like someone elses leftovers. I repeat. I could not help thinking I was eating someone else's leftovers.
The vegetables were overcooked, steak was overcooked, the shrimp was the only thing with a LITTLE moisture. Literally if you have ever had leftover fajitas that sat in the fridge for 2 days, then put it in a pan and reheated it to the point of steaming and charring, that was what we got for $30 a plate.
Not only that, they forgot the BIG grilled jalapeño pepper, THEY FORGOT THE SALSA! They filled the cheese, sour cream, and tomatoes portions, then forgot the salsa! In not one, BUT 2 trays!
They didn't give me beans. Totally forgot the beans. And worst of all, the tortillas had a weird sour smell immediatly noticeable to them. It literally smelled like there was some kind of cleaning liquid spilled on them.
I'm not making this up or exaggerating.
I have had a glowing review of this specific Chili's left up on Google for literally years. They have a spotless record from me until now.
It's clear they have had a change of management and their kitchen staff has gotten into TERRIBLE disgusting habits. This order from Chili's shows signs of MULTIPLE bad practices that is hard for restuarants to break without completely cleaning house. This dish should have never left the qst 1st station, let alone kitchen but it got past so many people its mind-boggling.
My mouth has a weird taste in it after eating just half of it. No joke, I literally do not trust this food and neither should you.
I had to throw out the meal and forget dinner tonight becuase by the time I got home and found this half complete, horror show on a plate,...
Read moreDelicious! Efficient. Consistent. I love Chili's and their food. As with every Chili's I have visited, one can always expect consistently great service, Delicious food, and clean facilities. This location is no exception. I was staying at a nearby hotel and decided on takeout service. Perhaps my favorite entrée is the Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers. Naturally, I had a craving and ordered this entrée to go. Delicious! You receive two side items, I ordered frys and a side garden salad ($1.00 additional). Perfect meal! The service was fast and efficient. Although I've never visited a Chili's with this particular open dining room configuration, the entire facility appeared clean and well maintained. I would have given a fifth star for my experience had it not been for the lack of Covid health protocols. No one was wearing a mask, except for myself, including the staff. It's difficult to understand why employees preparing and handling food are not required to wear masks?? As for myself, I'm still very concerned about Covid. I'm fully vaccinated, but trying to avoid possible break through infection. I was alarmed the employees observed had no masks and no social distance precautions. Ironically, I observed a Doordash "Dasher " wearing a mask while picking up a order. I was contemplating ordering via Doordash and now wish I had. Unfortunately, the lack of concern with Covid and it's spread, is a regional issue. After arriving in Tuscon, I rarely saw anyone wearing a mask nor any additional safety cleaning procedures. Therefore, I'll be avoiding the Tuscon area until after the pandemic ceases. If you're still concerned about Covid and your personal health, and find yourself in the greater Tuscon area, I would recommend ordering via Doordash or other thrid party vendor. Otherwise, my experience and dinner was wonderful! Whether you're visiting this particular Chili's location in Tuscon or one of the thousands across the globe, I highly recommend the Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers!!! You can "thank me later!! You won't be...
Read moreADULTERATED MEALS We decided to get dinner a noon today, so we chose to swing into a place we haven't been to for a while, Chili's. Our first experience was waiting for some minutes at the unmanned hostess entrance. The young man that finally came up didn't seem to know what to do with us. He first tried to seat us in the crowded bar area. Then he put into a nearly packed dining area, where I took our menus and sat near the nearly abandoned window area. Evidently he never heard of COVID or social distancing. It took about as long to get the attention of the wait staff, drinks and such too. With all the hooting and hollering in the kitchen, I'm not not sure if I need to call 911 or join the happiest party in Tucson. Very unprofessional. However, the happy times did not distract from the quality of our order. Mostly. I had the combination shrimp and steak fajitas, my lovely bride had a Swiss Mushroom burger. Hers was "dripping moist inside and just charred enough on the outside". Her extra crisp fries were "crisp". My fajitas were generous with all the ingredients, the steak being tender enough to cut with a fork, while the onions and peppers cooked just enough to retain crispness. My issue came late in the meal when I unearthed, from under that marvelous steak, a rather large wedge that was the cap of the red pepper. I worked for years in restaurants, and this was considered "trash". Not part of any bought meal I've ever seen. Not much more to say about this. It seems there are some management issues at play here but with help hard to coax into work, you put up with what you get, I guess. Hope this is not the normal. ADDENDUM: Well, the presence of the "trash" may have been the indicator that my meal was deliberately adulterated. I base that on the fact that I spent a good portion of the night in the bathroom with what my Mom politely called "intestinal distress". My advice, stay away from this place, unless you've got a good supply...
