This is the first Happy Lemon I’ve seen without a line out the door!
It’s conveniently placed near the mall and in an up and coming shopping center. Finding parking was really easy and the wait to order and then receive our drinks was minimal.
I went in a group of four. There are a lot of options on the menu, but the menu doesn’t seem to be very traditional and leans more on the creative and dessert like side. I ordered the milk tea with pudding/boba/lychee, my partner ordered the seasonal blended taro with mango boba, and my friend and their partner ordered the blended Oreo drink and traditional milk tea with boba. The drinks are all really sweet and there is a lot of room for customization, which is really fun! You can make sure you get a drink that meets your needs.
The store is also laid out nicely, so there was a good amount of seating with cute decor.
The only downside is that as more customers came in, the staff turned up the music so loud that even sitting at a small table in our group, we had to be shouting to hear over the music. Someone in our group even wondered if the staff wanted customers to start leaving and that’s why the music was turned up so loud. But there were only 3 groups of 4 people in the seating area, and none were being too loud. It also wasn’t busy either, as the staff members were all hanging out behind the counter talking. But again, I don’t mind staff not being busy, I just want to hear my friends while sitting together.
For a quick drink, this is a nice place to visit, especially if anyone in your group is new to bubble tea, but not really...
Read moreI’ve always loved Happy Lemon drinks and often stop by the Tukwila location before work. As someone who also works in the Food and Beverage industry, I completely understand how busy and stressful things can get. However, my experience today with one of the staff members was extremely disappointing.
When I approached the counter, I wasn’t ready to order yet, so I politely apologized and stepped aside to look at the menu. When I was ready, the lady staff member made it feel like taking my order was a burden. Her tone was noticeably unwelcoming, which set a negative tone for the rest of the visit.
I was also aware of the current promotion offering a free tumbler with a minimum $20 purchase, so I made sure to meet that requirement. However, the tumbler was not offered when I picked up my order. I had to ask for it myself, and when I did, the employee handed me one that looked completely different from the sample displayed in the store. When I asked if there were other options, she simply shrugged and said that was the only kind available with a big attitude, and without any explanation.
I understand that promotional items can run out, and I would have been fine with that, but it would’ve been appreciated to be informed before making my purchase. What truly made this experience unpleasant was the staff member’s dismissive and unfriendly attitude throughout the interaction.
I genuinely enjoy Happy Lemon and hope this feedback helps improve customer service at this location. My visit was on Tuesday, July...
Read moreSince moving to Renton from Houston a couple of years ago, this has been the first place I've found to really satisfy my milk tea cravings. Their flavor is most similar to my old place back home, and nearly just as good!
I usually get the taro milk tea w/ boba (half ice & reg. sugar) as an occasional treat for myself, which they make consistently about 90% of the time. I've also tried the Tiger Sugar drink, which is nice if you're in the mood for a more milky and extra sweet flavor - I like that one when it's cold and/or rainy and I have a sweet tooth.
This is also where I discovered the glorious bubble waffle. Oh my goodness that thing is AMAZING, especially alongside the tea (albeit very filling together haha). The scent and flavor of the waffle is almost like a 50/50 mixture of pancake and regular vanilla cake, with a lovely, fluffy-yet-stretchy texture that is pure joy to tear apart and dip into the puff cream. It's a whole experience. Sometimes they do tend to overcook the waffle, which makes it crispy in places and gives it a bit of a stale texture that takes away from what I described.
Overall,...
