Let's start from the beginning. The waiter didn't speak almost any english at all; we're always open to give people a chance but that is a pretty important thing if you're working as a waiter in a nicer restaurant in an English speaking country. But we gave him a chance. We didn't understand anything of what he first said to us except the word "drinks." So we said we'd like 2 waters and 2 beers. He brought those over just fine. A short time later he got our food orders. We ordered the French dip sandwich and the T-bone steak which comes with a salad, veggies and a side. I asked if we could do the fried mushrooms instead of the side and he said yes no problem. A short time later he brought us the $19 appetizer which includes fried mushrooms. I told him that was a misunderstanding and we didn't want that and he took it back. He came back a short time later with the salad and we ordered a second round of drinks which came back just fine. Later he came back with the food. The French dip sandwich was fine and we have nothing to complain about. But the T-bone steak plate was an absolute joke. It was literally raw when I had asked for medium rare. Raw. It also hadn't been trimmed at all and a quarter of it was just silver skin and inedible. The potatoes were not just cold but completely bare. No gravy, no butter, no salt. Clearly just store-bought, barely cooked mashed potatoes slapped on a plate. The side of veggies was just cold peas and cold carrots; also unseasoned, uncooked, and clearly just store-bought. This is a $39 plate. I didn't eat any of this after tasting it and I pushed the plate to the edge of the table. The waiters could tell there was a problem and were then avoiding us. I eventually got the attention of the other waiter and explained the problem and asked if I could talk to a manager. He said yes and just brought back the original waiter. I again explained everything that was wrong with the plate and told him I didn't want to pay for it. He argued with me that the raw steak was perfectly cooked and the rest of the plate was good and I can't understand what else he said. I asked again if I could talk to a manager. He said there is no manager but you can talk to the chef. I said ok that would be great but I also want the check. He comes back with just the check with that plate removed and went ahead and slapped a 15% gratuity on the whole order. I explained to him that I don't want the gratuity put on the check. He came back with the gratuity off. I give him my card and he runs it and I just sign the check and give it back. He then tells me I'm not finished and I need to fill out the tip part of the check. I try to explain again that no I'm not paying that and he keeps arguing so I just take the check and leave. They got my card so the restaurant got paid. But the level of unprofessionalism here was startling. I literally can't believe that not only is this place still in business, but that they also have the audacity to think they can charge high-class restaurant prices with literally no adequate staffing, no culinary skills, and no effort. This...
Read moreTLDR: Mediocre food, terrible service.
Food: Despite being relatively expensive, the majority of food was fine - nothing to write home about. Burger came out raw and the chicken tenders tasted like fish (not the batter, the meat itself)
Service: Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet, the servers decided to chat outside the kitchen (presumably strategising how to ruin people's dinner) rather than getting our order.
After attracting their attention and ordering our drinks it took 20-30 minutes to bring a simple order of some beers/sodas and one cocktail. Following this food was sent to our table in another 30 minutes, immediately it became evident that the burger was raw.
We attempted to attract the attention of the servers. I raised my hand multiple times to try to attract the attention of the staff, two of which proceeded to look directly at us and not tend to our table. Following a series of hand raises (and before resorting to smoke signals) the burger was quickly rectified and returned adequately cooked, possibly the only positive spin I would place in this situation.
The servers did not tend to our table after this, preventing us from telling them about the chicken tasting off (like fish). After the now agreed process of raising our hands to attract attention (rather than the conventional process of being tended to when getting eye contact with a server) we raised the concern about the chicken to a server, he ignored us and cleared the plates, leaving the erroneous chicken behind as some sort of platitude to the poor animal that was slaughtered to provide us with sustenance. The helpful and attentive manager later informed us that the chicken tenders were in fact made using chicken and not fish, and that we were "wrong" in stating that the chicken tasted off - this quickly quelled all suspicion on the matter.
Directly following this, much the opposite of drawing blood from a raw burger, we attempted to pay for our excuse of a dinner. Another 20 minutes pass.
The manager agreed to waive the service charge and the cost of the chicken tenders.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere was very realistic for an 19th century saloon, short of a table flip and a gunfight. We were made to feel ignored and uncomfortable by the staff after raising simple concerns, which could have been dealt...
Read moreIf I could rate lower I would. First time at the Grand Canyon and we get in around 9. In this town nothing is open but this spot which is attached to the hotel we get to. We get to this restaurant at 9:10, granted they close at 9:30 and we would have been just fine getting food to go or even told that the kitchen was closed. We get to the entrance, no one greets us. We get several servers looking our way, no one acknowledges us so finally I approach a small Hispanic fellow with an Apple Watch and red shirt on to ask about service. (He appeared to be the manager) He acts like he has an attitude and says something in Spanish to another server and by this time itâs 9:20. The server does not acknowledge us either and acts like itâs taking him 15 minutes to type an order in so as to not have to speak to us, so we just decided to leave. We try again the next day, this time greeted by Julio as soon as we walk in and he tells us to sit wherever. Then our server is the same little Hispanic fellow with the Apple Watch and red shirt. Evening starts good, he takes our order and drinks. When our food comes out, I notice him making his rounds checking on every table but ours. My date needed ketchup and there was hair in my food. But did we get any additional service? No. So finally after being ignored for about another hour as we were trying to pay for this overpriced food, no one brought us a check and we were clearly ready to go. There were families who came in after us and left before who were receiving proper service. We did not make any scene or cause any problems, Iâm not sure what the tiny Hispanic fellow with the red shirt and Apple Watch problem was. So finally at around 9:00 my date had to go ask for the check. Did anyone come to our table to pick up the check? Nope. So she went over again to drop the check off after about another 10 minutes. Do not come here, do not waste your time or money here. This town is clearly an overpriced tourist trap. I donât leave reviews but people need to...
