Best Seafood & Overall Restaurant in Tybee!! Food -- we've been here before and have made it a yearly tradition when we visit Tybee each summer, but it was a strong reminder on last visit how amazing it is!! Oysters were some of the best we've had in Tybee or anywhere. Peel & Eat Shrimp were excellent, especially with the sides of butter to make it pop. Coleslaw, corn and hush puppies were a nice addition to the shrimp. Gumbo was fantastic!! After some hit or miss recently, it was fantastic and had a nice presence of sausage, which can be lacking in other gumbo dishes. Boys had chicken fingers and fries and a cheeseburger with fries that was dominated quick by our oldest. Only had Texas Pete for hot sauce, the second seafood restaurant in Savannah/Tybee that only had it. Texas Pete is fine, but need Tabasco, Louisiana, or Crystal with seafood. Drinks -- had a couple of Miller Lites, a house margarita, and and island girl. Good drinks at decent prices and the perfect antitodote for a hot summer beach day! Service -- was truly fantastic!! Our server was prompt, helpful, kind, and friendly. They did a great job of ensuring all customers had everything they needed and also checked constantly on any new patrons that entered. Vibe -- nothing pretensious in the slightest. A seafood restaurant that provides great food, good drinks, and fantastic service. Interior matches the low key vibe of Tybee to a T! Value -- $20-25 per person, but that's including several cocktails and appetizers. The quality of food and service are more than worth it!! Overall -- make this a must stop if you're in Tybee and want great food and excellent service!!

Tony and I tried to get into our favorite Restaurant The Crab Shack on Tybee Island but it was packed with 2 hr wait, so we went to the beach front at Tybee Island, parked & went inside Bernie's Oyster Bar. It was half way busy but we were able to get a table. The waitress came over immediately and took our drink order. Tony went with PBR and I had a Pepsi. We ordered the Low Country Boil to share with Shrimp, Potatoes, Corn, Cole Slaw & Hushpuppies. We ordered a extra ear of corn. The food arrived about 10 minutes later, she didn't bring us any additional plates. The Shrimp was not properly cleaned, so I couldn't eat it. The corn was good, Potatoes were bland could have used some additional Old Bay Seasoning while cooking..tasted old! The Cole Slaw was made earlier in day and left out, it had turned slightly and was not eatable!!! Hush puppies were very tiny about the size of a quarter... Definitely will not go back, even my soda was watered down...so disappointed. Really wanted some good seafood!! I hope your dining experience is better. Tip, Taxes and total was $40, I left her $6 Tip. Parking on street was free since it was after 8pm.

I was expecting more than we got since a friend recommended this place. We had a party of 9, they had no tables that seat 9 and they said we could not push 2 tables together. We also had to sit right next to trash that smelled. The raw oysters were good, the gator bites were the best thing we tried. The fried pickles were good, the hush puppies were pretty good. I ordered the shrimp, crawfish and crab legs. The waitress did not bring out anything to open the crab legs and they only had plastic forks. I had to ask her for something to open the crabs with. The sides were corn which was inedible and just okay cole slaw and hush puppies. My stepson ordered the chicken fingers and he hated them, I tried them and they were overly breaded and the chicken was super dry. The French fries were also undercooked so much they tasted raw. My son ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with scallops which I had a bite of and that was good. I ordered a pina colada which was good. Overall, a sub par meal for $500. Definitely not worth the price. What a disappointment.

Stopped in here during the off season, late February, because I'm from the coast and crave it. When the mood hit for an oyster po'boy this is where I landed. Also had oysters on the half shell. The food was great, the hushpuppies have bits of corn in them and are so delicious I had to order them separately as a second order. During our visit we sat next to some locals who have been patrons for several years, lifetime customers. He was mentioning to the waitress how they no longer offered chili cheese tots even though they still offer tots and chili, separately, on their menu. He was also perturbed that the price went up to $7.25 for an order of tots. Finally, the owner came out to address the long time customer's issue. To my shock he proceeded to tell him that they are an oyster house, not a tot house, and if he didn't like it he could refuse to come back as he previously mentioned. It also appears the staff are not exactly pleased with this new owner. Overall, food is 4/5. New owner is 1/5 and doesn't deserve to run a business. Good luck buddy. He also asked them to leave due to the complaint after talking to them like they were beneath him, even though they hadn't caused a scene nor were they being irate. Unfortunately, that's our last time...

Reluctantly leaving a review in fear that everyone will catch on and the wait time will be long! Was told at other seafood eateries on the island that the wait time was up to 1 1/2 hours with an additional hour at the table, not so at Bernie’s. The wait time was about 15 minutes. Ok, now on to the food! We ordered the crab bites for our appetizer and each of use ordered the fried shrimp basket. Totally not disappointed!! The crab bites were about the size of extra large grapes- they were really good- not over powered by any one flavor And fried just right These delicious morsels were served with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. The shrimp basket was pretty darn good. They serve 12 good sized shrimp, fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw. The shrimp had the perfect amount of batter- just the right amount to let the flavor of the shrimp shine through all the while adding a great crunch. The fries and hush puppies were great too. The only thing I would improve is the coleslaw. It’s only redemption is that the cabbage mix was fresh other than that it was very bland. But to be honest do you go to a seafood place for the coleslaw? Last but not least was the servers; no complaints- they were polite and...
