I’m going to review this place 4 stars and here is why. I am a regular at this location and it’s always clean and food is pretty consistent with being good quality and most of the staff is friendly and accommodating. This is why it’s getting 4 stars and not 1. I have had only two bad experiences here out of the let’s say 100 times I’ve been here. (Yes I believe it’s this many I been coming here 1-3 times a week for 5 years). Tonight I feel like I don’t know if I should return after I had HUGO S as my waiter. He was not rude in anyway but provided me the worst service I have ever experienced in this restaurant. Took forever to take our order... took forever to bring the soup it was cold.... tropical island twist was poorly made... never checked on us had to flag him down for refills and guess what he was rarely around to flag down. Main courses took forever to come out so our children were done eating and the adult main orders took an extra 40 mins!!!! When he was asked how much longer the response was “ I don’t know maybe another 2-3 minutes well nearly 15 mins later an us falling asleep he brings out cold and burned fried chicken. We were so turned off we just wanted to leave. The chicken skin tasted like it was fried this morning and re fried again this evening just taste burnt chicken skin. Most of the order wasn’t touched. My daughter wanted ketchup with her hash browns and of course he’s no where to be found so she was forced to eat it without it.... and did I mention no re fills ?
I hope someone in management reads this and takes it seriously because we are extremely disappointed in this...
Read moregenuinely i dont like leaving reviews & havent but this incident was the worst experience i have ever had. Our server bessy was horrible. she greeted the table late, nerver came around unless needed, examples like, asking for our food. she didnt even come by when the food came out. for the check we had find her. she never asked if we needed anything or checked up on us. We just wanted to get out of there and once we were finally ready, she accidentally charged us the wrong bill. after explaining to us the machine did it and it wasnt her voice and she will void it , we were already annoyed and said we understand that but can we get the receipt for the void and she said it’s voided to just pay the check and she wasn’t understanding we just didnt care what excuse she had just show us proof, so i can pay the bill knowing the last one voided. instead of apologizing for her mistake she laughed at us because she was getting annoyed at what we had to say and she got another server to help us. like so, they gave us the voided recipe and we paid as needed and apologized for her saying she probably didnt understand what we were asking for. I truly enjoy eating at this restaurant and love a lot of the staff there due to us always coming for years but this had to be the worst service i’ve ever experienced. We werent being corruptive or rude. It was a simple mistake she couldve taken accountability for but she was uncoordinated & rude. Im disappointed to make this review but they stated the manager wasnt there. Hopefully she does better & gives the service needed in...
Read moreSitting in the comfortable big booth at IHOP with my son, just visiting from London, we both ordered the same thing with a clever name, the 'Indecision's Choice', two eggs any style, sausage, bacon, French toast, and of course, pancakes. I switched out the pancakes for a waffle.
This is not a meal you'll actually expect to finish, but you will enjoy every morsel that makes it past your lips.
It's important to discuss the general impression I received entering this IHOP.
It reminded me of sitting in a booth in Howard Johnson's on Broadway and 46th Street in 1985 (I loved the 'Swiss Chocolate Almond' I can almost taste it as I write).
Howard Johnson's had a similarly generic atmosphere, had a seasonal and historically efficient 're-use' for maybe three decades. Probably new instlled for VE Day [Victory in Europe] famously celebrated in Times Square, right outside the 46th Street Howard Johnson's front door.
The decorations, that represent no religion, no specific holiday; however, represent majestically, the near-failure of, Howard Johnson's entrepreneurial success of opening his Ice Cream Shop, dangerously next door to Bernard Shaw's, "Ah, Wilderness," on Broadway.
To every NYC Critics surprise, Shaw was a wild, runaway 'Hit.' And so began the rightful reign of HJ for the next 45 years.
Back to IHOP, it has taken its own rightful place in history, but with pancakes AND ice cream.
IHOP is my staple, and I think, many others, and I use these words with loving care, America's, "Corporate Comfort...
