If you want the most authentic tacos, flautas, burritos and Sopes in Jersey City, this is the place.
I love this place and deem it authentic because as a Latina, I can tell the difference between a well seasoned dish and a dish that has just gotten a whole bottle of hot sauce thrown at it.
You'll savor sweet peppers, latin oregano, fresh cilantro, and roasted vegetables in every bite! You can have your dishes spicy or mild- but regardless of what you pick, the food will always be well seasoned!
THE MEATS: You can choose between chicken or "carnitas". Here's the deal with this place's carnitas: It is Christmas style roasted pork! You can smell the roast park up the block in the morning! This is how my husband and I found this place! Looking for where the heck that roasted meat smell was coming from!
BE SURE TO- Ask for green sauce on the side regardless of what you get. You'll taste what real green sauce is meant to be: A mix of roasted tomatillo with handfuls of cilantro, roasted onions, among others. I'm not into sauces (only ketchup and on fries) but this is the one sauce that I will pour all over my tacos!
Also try their TRES LECHES CAKE. I gained 2 pounds because of it after a month of too many takeout nights lol
Their Mexican breakfasts are delicious, hearty, and a real treat too. Ask for the chorizo con huevos breakfast. It brings white mexican cheese fondue style, avocado, fried cheese in strips, refried beans, warm tortillas in foil to keep warm, and lots of eggs with red Spanish sausage.
✨The best part is how CHEAP their dishes are ✨
BONUS: THEY HAVE BURGERS that are a lot juicier and tastier than even the Jersey City Diner ones! I go to that diner for other things, but this place wins when it comes to burgers and Mexican dishes!
I used to go to the Mexican place by Journal Square before finding this one and the food in Mexico2Go has made the other place's food...

Amazing food and great prices!
Ordered for lunch one Monday afternoon:
Campechanos (carnitas & chorizo) Taco - wasn't a huge fan of the carnitas Al Pastor Taco - one of the better al pastor I've had in a while Lengua Burrito - lengua can be hit or miss. In my experiences, it's usually too bland or too salty, but not here! Chorizo Quesdilla - this actually comes with two. I didn't love the tortilla but the chorizo was good Pescado Taco - I was a little disappointed that this wasn't fried. Maybe I misread the description. It was still good, nonetheless and I guess it's for the best since grilled is healthier anyway
With each item, you get a choice of red sauce or green sauce. I definitely recommend the red, as it's more flavorful. The green was too 'green' tasting, if that makes sense.
We had enough food for lunch the next day. Usually, Mexican takeout is not great the next day. It's a soggy mess. But everything here was still surprisingly good the next day. We just threw everything into a panini maker, and it was almost as good as the first day.
There are so many items on their menu I still want to try. Literally, any Mexican item you can think of, is probably on this menu. Maybe I'll go with the torta next time and definitely some...
Read moreSitting right around the corner near Holland Tunnel, this local spot is an easy-go-to for me - honestly, a personal fav.
Hands down, my number one order is the steak burrito with everything on it. It's extremely filling that I typically split the burrito in half to save the second half for another meal. I also get the chips/guac which often times have been provided fresh.
A few other hits I'd recommend are: tres leches, churros, tacos, and beef empanada.
I can't speak for anything else on the menu since I haven't tried them however my friend did try something else (forgot the name), and he said was a miss. So definitely one of those spots where you just got to try out and see what you like. Literally can't go wrong with the budget...
