I should have known when the bagel shop in the middle of the day had a line our the door but Goff's Hamburgers had 2 people sitting at tables this was a bad idea. Goff's is a Dallas staple that has been in this neighborhood for decades but I never tried it before. When I walked in it has the feeling of a restaurant that stayed open longer than it should have - very dated. The guy behind the counter was much more interested in his phone than helping me, and when I asked for swiss cheese on my burger he said they only had American - strike 2.
The fries were hot but dry, and the ranch that I paid and extra 75 cents for was right out of a jar - awful. If the guy behind the counter had put down his phone and checked my order he would have seen that the tomato and onions I requested were not on the burger, just adding to the disappointment of the entire experience.
They have a goldmine location sitting in the parking lot of the SMU Sports pavilions, but it was obvious wrong menu and staff for this very high...
Read moreI've been a customer of Goff's since Lovers Lane and Mr & Mrs Goff's! I placed a to go order yesterday for a # 1 with a veggie patty. When I got home I thought something was wrong. It turned out the the veggie burger patty was ice cold almost frozen. I called and on a Saturday the "manager" was off. Response was pathetic from staff. I asked for the manager yo call me and left my name and number. No call. I called today and a gentleman with extremely broken English who said he was the manager replied we cook our burgers all the way through, I don't know what you want me to do". I said you can apologize and refund my burger or offer to replace the order. For $12.00 for a burger and fries I expect more. Terrible,...
Read moreI was excited to find out there was still a Goff's Hamburgers in town, so I had to go! I had the chili, cheese and onion burger with onion rings to start. Both were very tasty, just as I remembered! However, the burger was smaller than I remembered ( of course, I was remembering my days of eating at the location in Wynnewood during the '60's). I finished with an apricot fried pie, which was JUST as I remembered...hands-down the best! Unfortunately, I got a #5 Wiener Schnitzel to go, for later. It was a non-plus for me. Very tasteless, and the sauerkraut was more like sour slaw. Overall, I gave it 4 stars for the burger and rings, bolstered by the fried pie. I will go back for them, and try some...
