I bewail the fact that I am no longer hip. But my world revolves around kindness. It is the sweetness on the danish, the buttery taste of the croissant. It can tip the balance from an ok establishment into that realm of greatness and its lack can drag a place down into what can only be called a bummer. The servers here just radiate coolness, they appear to float along in a strange bubble of non-engagement. But I’ll tell you what they were not, they were not friendly, engaging, or animated. Maybe they are to other people, but not to me. In fact, it felt kind of snooty. We waited for this place to open for ages. We were excited. I wanted to like it, but I’m afraid I don’t. Beyond feeling unwelcome we come to the actual food. I got 2 sweet rolls and they were pretty good, but were they $7.50 good? I had my hopes, but on giving 1 of them to wife, her reaction was… they are pretentious. I get the most wonderful pastries just down the street at the farmers market, from the sweetest people. People who feel like part of the Team, like community. And I pay a lot less. I have traveled extensively, I have been down in the streets with people from around the world so I’m afraid the vibe does not draw me in. It just makes me sad that a more friendly community business could be using that space. Who spends $15 plus tax, plus tip for 2 not terribly large danishes? And who does that in a place where the staff appear, at least to me, to be too cool to be friendly. While we’re at it, for all of its pretensions, the paper covered windows mext door make the place look a little like it’s part of a dying block. Just saying, WilI I go back? Will I bring my out of town guests to show them the vibrant Vancouver downtown? Not likely.

Completely amazed! I went on opening day to find a stunning set up that felt like walking into a bakery in Europe. The interior is simple yet elegant and the atmosphere is made complete by the music. The pastries on display are gorgeous and hard to choose from! I shared with friends and found everything to be delicious and they seem to get the balance perfect- light and fluffy but rich in flavor, sweet but not too sweet. My favorite was the mousse pear! The macarons melt in your mouth. I had the chocolate and raspberry horseshoes. I preferred the raspberry but the chocolate was good too (high quality chocolate, not very sweet. I did like it, but the raspberry was just THAT good.) The staff were all very helpful, welcoming and friendly. I'll definitely be back, probably for the pear!

Went to try this place. Pastries are served cold, another person came in and asked if he can have it hot and the girl said there microwave was broken but she can put it in the oven for a few seconds. Which she never offered us usually when you go to a bakery they always ask. Tried there bun I can’t remember what the first name is but it was very strong tasted like rosemary? Lots of seasoning wasn’t a fan. There raspberry crossiant was okay lots of cream cheese and raspberry in the middle and served cold. The only good thing I liked was the passion fruit drink they had. I don’t think I would return I personally love Al and Ernie’s better, friendly service and more upbeat environment.

Not horrible. It was not as great as I was expecting. The staff was very kind and quick. They were helpful and I think that was the highlight of the place.

Unfortunately, the food and space were disappointing. There is little room to move around, and the space between the tables and the counter is very small, I felt as though I was invading other people's space while ordering with how cramped it was. I had to stand pressed up pretty close to the display cases just to let people who were leaving get around me, and then had to inch past another person when I tried to leave.

I really can overlook the small space if the food had been as grand as I was expecting. The prices are high, which is what I expect for a small batch bakery with quality. Sadly, the quality lacks. I'm not sure if I went on a bad day or what, but I bought a couple of things and found it that most of it missed the mark.

The honey cake was beautiful in presentation and what brought me in originally, but upon trying it, I regretted spending the amount I did on it. It was incredibly bland with almost zero flavor. The texture was strange, and it overall tasted like straight-up gelatin. That was the only flavor that came through. I'm not sure if they actually use gelatin or not, but that's certain the only thing it tasted like. As something to look at? It's great. As something to eat? I'd have to pass.

I got the choux as well. These were a little better. The strawberry particularly shines as a much better tasting item, but still felt a little bland. Nowhere near as bland as the honey cake, and at only $4.50 it was worth it in my opinion. If there is anything I would go back for, it would be these. They seem to be much better quality and the taste, while not anything incredibly wowing, was good enough that just 1 or 2 at a time might not be enough. Beautiful presentation but with enough flavor to back it up this time.

Overall, it was just okay. I would be willing to go back the next time I'm downtown and try out some of their other items, maybe ones that have a little more flavor, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. It was almost $20 for the few things I got, and while I expect smaller businesses to charge more, and am willing to pay the price for quality small business items, I think I'd save my money for...
