They started by having us wait in line with 12 to 14 other people. When we reach the front of line a nice person asked if we have been here before and I have said no, but I have been to another salt and straw location. She then explained that this “experience” would include an ice cream guy who would meet me at the counter, and I was welcome to taste as many flavors as I would like. The ice cream scooper was fantastic and very friendly and welcoming, and the flavors of the ice cream were really good. Once we were done selecting one split scoop and one regular scoop in waffle cones, we were ushered to the left to check out. The total for these two ice creams was $17 and there was a tip cup as well as a tip request on the iPad. We tasted maybe four different flavors between two people so the ice cream scooper did do about 3 to 4 minutes of work. But that still seems a little excessive to ask for an iPad tip and then also ask for a cash tip in a jar. Especially when two ice cream cones was already $17.
The ice cream was fantastic and the waffle cone was fresh and delicious but the attempt to make it a “experience” that you are then expected to double tip for seems a...
Read moreCan I just say how excited we are to have a Salt and Straw in Vancouver?! My family and I look forward to the new flavor drops every month and taste them all! We each have our go to’s but it seems we all love the ooey gooey brownie. Their sorbets are delicious I just wish the marionberry coconut sorbet was a year round flavor. It’s my favorite. The lines are never too long (I believe the longest we’ve waited was 15 minutes) and we go all the time since we live a couple of blocks away. The staff encourages tasting of all flavors and never seems to rush any group through. They are kind but efficient. My kids love the shakes too. Do yourself a favor and try all of the options even if you think the name doesn’t sound appealing. Strawberry balsamic vinegar is delicious and blue cheese one just might surprise you. Pro tip: if you want to have scoops of multiple flavors but you just can’t stomach eating too much sugar get a split scoop. You choose two flavors at smaller scoop sizes. It’s...
Read moreThis place is the best for different and tasty ice cream. All 5 of us made room for ice cream after a big lunch.
It was great to taste some of the unique flavors. Kudos to them for giving us real spoons to sample(thanks for reducing the use of plastic on our environment!)
Their flavors change which is a great way to make us come back for more! I’ll be back!
They’re located across the waterfront. Parking is a challenge and there are only 2 benches to sit outside.
Food: 5/5 - creamy and tasty ice cream Service: 5/5 - they had plenty of patience waiting to hear what flavors we chose. I couldn’t decide which flavor for a scoop so the server was kind enough to let me choose 2 flavors. Ambiance: 5/5 - great vibe to the place Parking: 0/5 - a challenge finding parking in this area despite the 2...
