So I waited to give my review after dining twice. The first experience was just a no. The chef ended up coming out to talk to us about our experience and offered for us to come back. We decided to give them another chance since we were going to a Brave’s game. This review will only be about our second experience with reference to the first one.
We had no issues asking for the chef and being reassured we were gonna be taken care of. We order a round of drinks and put appetizers in. The drinks came out fairly quick. In my opinion the drinks are just okay. I would love to actually see daiquiris on the menu and better spirits selection. So the appetizers came out and eh. We ordered the Mozzarella Logs and 12 pc wings. The mozzarella logs are $15 and when did cheese sticks become so expensive?? Personally the marinara tasted like store bought. The cheese sticks were average. The wings… so on our first experience we asked for them crispy and they came out when soggy skin. So this time we emphasized we wanted them crispy. They came out crispy but my gosh the wings were HUGE. It was hard to trust eating them and the sweet chili lacked flavor. My boyfriend said his buffalo wings were straight though just big too.
Next we’re the entrees… I got the Boom Boom Shrimp tacos as a recommendation from our waiter and my boyfriend order the Catfish Orleans. I ordered my tacos without cheese and when it came out I had cheese on them. The tortillas were also hard. They seemed to toast them which I don’t mind but it was left on the heat just a little too long. They remade my food but then it came out cold.. I ordered a side of grits and those are interesting. I’m from the South so I’m salt, pepper, and butter girl. But those grits are too similar to mashed potatoes.. not a fan. I’m sure someone likes it though. Just not my preference. My boyfriend’s food was interesting too.. just like our first visit we had issues with the crawfish being black. Literally black! We had the same issue this time. Idk about yall but I’m not eating black crawfish. The rice tastes like microwave rice. The fish was fried crispy but overall the dish itself lacked that bold flavor.
Overall the food is mediocre. Not impressed on either visits. We truly do appreciate the service from our waiter and the chef willing to invite us back. That goes a long way. The food just doesn’t outweigh that for us to come back. If I want New Orleans food I’ll go to Pappadeauxs...
Read moreI had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Walk On’s in the Battery, and I can confidently say it’s one of the most exciting new dining experiences in town. From the moment we walked through the doors, it was clear this place is aiming for excellence—and achieving it.
Service: Absolutely five-star. Every team member—from the host to our server to the kitchen staff we caught glimpses of—was professional, warm, and impressively attentive. Our server struck the perfect balance between being informative and giving us space to enjoy. Water glasses never dipped below half, and we were checked on just enough to feel genuinely cared for. Definitely try their signature drink: The Eye of the Hurricane!
Atmosphere: The ambiance is stunning without feeling overly formal. The design blends modern elegance with cozy touches—think soft lighting, carefully chosen music, and a layout that allows for both privacy and energy. It’s upscale but completely unpretentious.
Food: Despite being a soft opening, the kitchen ran like a well-oiled machine. Every dish was plated beautifully and came out at the perfect temperature. The flavors? Bold, balanced, and memorable. The chef clearly knows their craft and isn't afraid to take a few creative risks that pay off. Highlights included the Devils on a Horseback and a Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding dessert that was chef’s kiss.
Final Thoughts: Walk On’s in the Battery may be in its early days, but it already feels like a polished, high-end experience. If this is what they're delivering during a soft opening, I can't wait to see what happens once they officially launch. Visit this location ASAP—you’ll be...
Read moreBEWARE!! Please read my review before going here so that the same scam doesn’t happen to you! Having been to one of the original Walk-On’s in downtown New Orleans, I was pumped to go here. -so I talked my wife into going here for an after dinner drink. I ordered a single pour of Strannahan’s 94 proof (yellow label) on the rocks. I gave the bartender my credit card and asked to close out. When I received the receipt to sign, I was shocked to see a $100 charge for my drink! Long story short, the bartender refused to correct it, her bar manger refused to correct it, and only after arguing with the head restaurant manager for 30 minutes did she agree to reverse the charge to the correct price for Strannahan’s of $15! This should not have been a fight. Based on the extreme attitude and refusal to immediately correct the error it tells me this is a scam ring where all the employees are in on it. Anyone with a brain knows a single pour of a common bourbon like this should NOT be $100 for one shot (1.5 ounces)!
If I could give Walk-On’s ZERO stars, I would. And I’m the last person to even one star a restaurant or bar but this has to stop! How many people have they done this to in the past that were too drunk to notice? Hopefully my review saves others from getting scammed out of their hard earned money! Ask to see your bill first before paying! I know I will NOT...
