Basil — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

We have visited Basil twice during my vacation in Virginia Beach. On my first visit, my pizza came in a paper box. However, this time, it was placed in a foam box, which unfortunately got burnt by the hot pizza. We were concerned about chemicals melting into the pizza because the foam box was deformed. Even though I offered to pay for a replacement slice, explaining my concerns, the owner and another staff member suggested I simply request a paper box next time and felt I was being “rude”. I was taken aback, as I was just voicing genuine concerns. Instead of accommodating my request for another slice by paying for this other slice, they offered a refund. Im basically kicked out. 1, I'm left wondering how I could've conveyed my feelings without coming across as “rude”? 2,How can I know a pizza shop will provide deformed “foam box” instead of a paper box like the first time I came? 3, Should I request for pizza paper box no matter wherever I go in the future? 4, I was interrupted when I was talking and being told “I am not finished”. Two of us ate here after reading the reviews. This place offered the highest-rated pizza in the walkable area. The ratings are credible - they make a great pizza. Initially, the price was daunting at $35 for a large margherita with tip. We were proven wrong when we ate it fresh in the room and it was delicious. We reheated it the following day. It was still delicious. We ate the remaining portion cold on the go. Yes, it was still delicious. The same pizza went for three meals three different ways and we loved all three. We stopped by Basil Pizza for a quick lunch because the kids in our group were craving pizza—and we’re so glad we did! It’s just a 2-minute walk from our hotel, making it super convenient.

We ordered cheese slices for the kids and a veggie pizza for the adults. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t even consider trying a different place for dinner—we went back that same evening and ordered the exact same thing. That’s a first for both families in our group!
