It seems like the lady with the bangs is only nice when it involves money…my husband and I had a very negative experience here. I spent about $100 in here to be treated like a inconvenience. Everything was fine, until we got to the fudge. The lady showed us the prices (which really don’t even matter because they will charge you by pound anyway), then explained it in a way that sounded like my husband could choose 2 different flavors of fudge for $5. I explained to her in the beginning that I wanted a 1/4 box and my husband wanted a 1/4 box, because we just wanted a small treat. She ended up confusing the hell out of us, then talking to us like we were STUPID when I asked how $5 of fudge turned into $11 of fudge. She tried to make it seem like it was our fault because he wanted two flavors, but she explained it like he could pick out two flavors. Otherwise, he was fine picking one flavor. I tried explaining to her that she confused us, but she did not want to hear it, so I just sucked it up and paid $23 for fudge that was more than what I wanted. It’s bad enough everything else is overpriced. I just didn’t want to go to Sunsations, who knew that Sunsations would’ve been the better option? Also, I accidentally forgot my phone in the gift shop. My husband went to retrieve it and he said that he asked about the phone, no one would make eye contact with him. They didn’t even help him find it, he had to find it himself. We will never step foot in this establishment again & what we bought was worth nowhere...
Read moreMy husband and I made a stop here during our honeymoon. Visually, the store is certainly quite busy - yes, the aisles are narrow and crowded, but in a way that will be familiar to you if you've ever frequented similar beach-front establishments. In the case of this store, the store was both well organized and absolutely clean. The music box provided adorable ambiance! Both ladies were extremely polite and kind.
An important note -- if you can't find a single other souvenir to take (and they offer a wide variety of goodies!) -- absolutely don't leave without fudge! We initially declined, having just purchased a large quantity in Williamsburg, but she was in the midst of preparing a batch of red velvet, and after showing us the process she rather insisted. That bite was enough to sell us immediately -- of all the sweets we picked up along the road, hers was the fudge that didn't make it home, and the only fudge I've ever felt the need to immediately recommend to others. The perfect flavor, a velvet texture -- immaculate.
Of all the Virginia Beach shops we visited, this one made the best lasting impression, and it's impossible to miss on the pier....
Read moreIn all the years coming to Virginia Beach we never leave before visiting this gift shop. We were the only customers in the store. My wife tried two new flavors of fudge and asked to sample the peanut butter. The lady with the blonde hair replied "that's all the sampling for today". It's like she thought we were taking advantage of tasting them, when I'm fact I was purchasing 2lbs of fudge. I went ahead and purchased but should have responded, then I guess I don't need to purchase fudge today. Very disappointed as this was my...
