TASTE — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

This was my first and last time paying money for food here. Sandwich was completely uninspiring. I had the roast beef with havarti. One of, if not the smallest saddest sandwich I’ve ever had. Roast beef I paid over $10 for the sandwich which amounted to about 3oz of Roast Beef, a slice of cheese and stale tasteless bread. If I haven’t paid extra for adding tomatoes and lettuce (bare minimum). It would have been worse. Then there was the size of the sandwich. At best a finger food like you see on tray at a party. Next it was the service. Ordered and got my little sign. After waiting for over 10 minutes (not crowded) the rest of my party got their food. 2 of the 3 people ordered after me. I waited another 5 minutes and went to the counter. I was asked what I ordered. The person being the counter asked and told me it should be coming right up. I looked at the counter and saw numerous sandwiches on the counter. I went back to my seat. After a couple more minutes I turned around saw the person I talked to grab one of those sandwiches and give it to another worker who delivered the cute little sandwich to the table. Finally the sandwich comes with their hot house sauce. I asked when I ordered it what was in it. They said, mayo based. My guess is mayo and Sriracha. Uninspired. But in addition to that there was hardly any sauce. If I had to guess because of the stale bread and the sauce being soaked into the bread, this sandwich was premade. Which would beg the question, why did I wait over 20 minutes? Tastes terrible. Terrible service. Terrible...

My boyfriend and I absolutely love taste, we come here sometimes 2-3 times a week. We have tried every sandwich on the menu and they never disappoint. Taste also has our favorite Boylan’s crème soda as a fountain drink option, which we both look forward to when coming here. Yesterday when we came in it was very clear they were understaffed which was no problem, we waited patiently for someone to take our order. The woman with the short blonde hair took our order and I could tell by the way she called us up to the register she may have been having a bad day. I went to fill up my drink and noticed they were out of crème soda so I went back up to the counter and let the woman know (same short haired blonde) she responds with such a unprofessional tone “there is nothing we can do about that right now.” I was honestly shocked as I wasn’t complaining just kinda giving them a heads up. A different girl brought my boyfriend and I our sandwiches so I decided to let her know as well because that way hopefully we could get some on our way out. She was very professional and had great customer service. However, then she went and said something to the girl with the attitude and they both looked over at my boyfriend and I with dirty looks. I had yet to even open my sandwich after seeing them do that we decided to take our food and eat at home in peace. Will definitely not be returning to...

As someone who has been in the food industry for several years, I had struggled to find a consistent lunch spot. Taste has, by far, exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere is always amazing, sometimes a little loud but that’s just because they’re busy since everyone loves them! When I dine in, I constantly see staff maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant. Taking out trash, washing tables…all that stuff. Speaking of the staff, they’re so friendly and helpful! Even when there’s almost a line out the door, the staff still maintains a positive attitude and friendly demeanor. I have never seen them visibly stressed, literally at all. They have a bunch of different sandwiches, bowls, and plenty of sides if you’re looking for something small. My personal favorites are the Inlet and the Boardwalk sandwiches. My other favorite thing to get is their smoothies! When I tell you they’re soooo good, I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. You absolutely have to try the Big Boss Man smoothie, so good!
