Smartmouth Brewing Pilot House — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

We came here for a date night a few weeks ago and I can’t say enough good things about my experience to do it justice! Originally we wanted to try the Donniefrys food truck and of course the BEER! We had so much fun talking and laughing with Chrissy, Sabrena, and Tara! Not only were they a blast but they were so helpful with suggesting great beers for us to try! I found a new favorite so I can occasionally switch it up from my all time favorite beer ever, Sommerfling! We had so much fun and we loved how they took extra precautions to keep the venue safe and sanitary but somehow made it feel like there wasn’t this crazy pandemic going on. Highly recommend checking this place out! It has that back deck, chill summer nights vibe making it the perfect spot to hang with a few friends or hit it up for date night. Get the beer, get the food and chat with these chicks! All around great experience!!!

I recently visited SmartMouth Brewery and was impressed by the ample space they have. It’s a great spot for gatherings, with plenty of room to spread out. They offer not only a variety of drinks but also pizza, which I found to be fresh. My pizza was pretty well done so keep that in mind.

However, my experience was marred by an extremely long wait time for the pizza. Despite ordering at the same time as others, I waited over 40 or 50 minutes while others received theirs within 5 to 10 minutes. This inconsistency was a bit frustrating.

The service also left something to be desired. The servers didn’t seem as helpful as they could have been. On a positive note, one employee took the time to chat with us about the neighborhood, which gave a nice local vibe to our visit.

Came here for their Dog Days of Summer event and we had a great time. The staff was very sweet to our dogs. They had a little doggy pool to let the pups cool off from the heat. We got to spin a wheel for the chance to win free things for our dogs. We got two free pup cups.

Good vibes all around. All of the staff was very friendly. Lots of seating options. Plenty of beer to choose from; I’m not a huge fan of beer but was able to find something I liked.

The pizza was decent. Nothing special, but not the worst I’ve ever had. I got The Hive.
