My son wanted to give Dough Boy's a try from the 1st day we arrived on vacation to Virginia Beach... So after we got a menu, I decided to treat him, my wife, niece, and Mother & Father in-laws to dinner... Being my Mother in-law's birthday, I figured it'd save anyone the trouble of cooking...
So I ordered one large pizza, which was already over $14 with nothing but cheese... They charged me over $6 to add pepperoni, sausage, and bacon... Which is insane when the entire pizza had maybe 12 pepperoni on the entire pie... A handful (8 pieces at best) of sausage & maybe two strips of bacon crumbled over it... Not very much toppings for the high extra cost!!
But that was just the lackluster pizza.. My wife, and both in-laws got Philly cheesesteak subs... My Father inlaw with fries, while my wife & mother inlaw got "beer battered" onion rings... Which ran me an extra $2 plus taxes... And these onion rings were pretty blatantly from a Sisco (or other food service) frozen bag... Not battered, but severly over fried!!
The steak subs were soggy, not even luke warm... And all around terrible. They barely wanted to eat them, but the $65 tab made it harder to not eat...
My niece added an order of chicken tenders, fried so far they nearly had turned black... A deep shade of brown. But so far beyond edible, they wers some of fhe driest chicken tenders I've ever seen...
To make it all even worse, the high bill... The lackluster, and no where near fresh food... Was just the tipping point after the service rendered... As my niece & I arrived to pick up our order... We were blatantly just ignored by the staff... Bartender, waitresses, etc..
Finally the hostess gives us attitude, making sure we basically felt terrible for ordering our dinner during a "busy time" for their staff. And she coldly directs us to the bar keep... Who will allow us to hand over our money... And collect our cold, soggy, nasty food.
This bartender, we'll he may have been the worse part of an overall just terrible experience... The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because sadly the food had potential. Had it been fresh... And if their servers treated us better it may have made up for the terrible meal we received.
This bartender with his ponytail, and Miss Priss attitude treated my niece & I like trash. Even though we were spending a few $10 bills shy of $100 at a dang pizza joint...
I will NEVER give Dough Boy's another cent, and every year when we return for vacation... When we crave pizza, or subs... We will be calling upon places with much better service & food... Like Jimmy John's... NorthEnd Pizza... And others.
I wouldn't recommend Dough Boy's to my most despised of associations. No one deserves to be basically "robbed" of their hard earned cash for food & service as terrible as this establishment gave me.
Maybe the Dough Boy's further up the stretch has better employees who understand that customers are the cornerstone of your employment. We fund your paychecks... And service goes a long way when the food you're serving is subpar at best.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME.
Do NOT eat at the Dough Boy's on the corner of 33rd Street & Atlantic Avenue unless you want terrible food, and even worse attitudes from...
Read moreWe were so excited to try what people said was the best pizza in VB! We got screwed! We left the beach after an all day surf comp, ordered 2 specialty pizzas online at 33rd St. per website. Added tip = $67! Showed up to pick up & doors were locked w/sign saying closed In staff mtg! Called 9 times & knocked on doors. Hubby called 2 other locations finally reached 1 who said they turned tablet off for orders. Untrue as we ordered & my bank verified it was pending! I have confirmed email to pick up 15 min ago! She said I had to notify app THEY use. Nothing she can do about it!!! I have no number! I went through their website there is no number. I went to my receipt and even looked up the app that is on the website I finally found and it refers only to the restaurant owners! Not customers!!! I’m working with my bank now an hour later still to get my money situated! Side note…we still haven’t eaten!!! Biggest disappointment in Virginia Beach yet!!!
**2 hours later we kept calling - getting answering machine msg that states they are with another customer call back they don’t accept msgs - I finally reached a person & requested to speak to a mgr. there was no mgr on site. I explained situation & was told my order was actually there and could be picked up! I said I am not sure how they expected me to pick an order up 2 hours later when they were closed when my order was placed & supposed to be ready??? She had just come on & after hearing the story c& that no one was actually there when I arrived & that I wanted a refund, she stated she would reach out to her mgr & get back to me about getting me a refund. I explained we were told we had to contact the platform they used to cancel the order and get a refund & that was absolutely unacceptable and it was their place to take care of it. She apologized and agreed. She did call me back a short time later & stated she’d refunded the money but it will take 3-5 business days. So, it will now be next week before we know if it has in fact been refunded. I appreciate her efforts and we just saw the owners response so I thank him for responding. I’m not thrilled with what all we’ve gone through as it never should have happened and I’m not thrilled we now have to wait until next week for our refund, but I’m thankful that they have at least...
Read moreWell I'm super upset with my order tonight!! Although my family stated that the pizza ordered from 24th st location was delicious, my gluten free pizza from 33rd was not. The biggest issue was they put green peppers on it and i did not ask for that. Unfortunately had already waited an hour and 10 min so I was not asking them to fix it. Worst part of the experience was CUSTOMER SERVICE! Originally ordered from 24th street location but when i got there, they only had half my order bc they were out if gluten free crust. It was no biggie, bc they found me some at the 33rd street location. Well this is where a slew of issues began! I was told by 24th st that my pizza would already be in the works once I got to 33rd st but that was not at all true. Got there and they rang me up like they just started the ticket. After waiting about 30 min with no word as to where my order was, I decided to ask. The girl says they were short staffed. At this point I was about 45 min in to waiting on my food and the half order I picked up from 24th was already cold. 50 min I waited in store for a pizza that was supposedly on order 20 min before I even arrived! Then the waitress brings it out, walks right past me and tries to give my pizza to a family that had already recueved their food. Even after the guy working told her it was mine, she still attempted to give it away! I mean really?? Then THEY GOT THE ORDER WRONG! THEY PUT GREEN PEPPERS INSTEAD IF RED PEPPERS WHICH IS TERRIBLE! BUT AT THIS POINT, CAN I ASK THEM TO REMAKE IT? NO, ID BE WAITING 2 HOURS!! No one apologized, nothing!!! If you guys want someone to properly run your restaurant, let meckniw bc that was likely the most horrible service I've ever had! I understand short staffed sure, but inform me please! Don't tell me my pizza is being cooked when it's clearly not even been worked up yet! I had to come home and reheat the first half of the order I got at 24th bc itt had been in the car cooling for over an hour!! This is completely unsatisfactory. I truly feel like I...
