In Richmond, this was a much needed restaurant, yes, you have some other places like Indian Pastry House and Market Cafe, which are both ok, but, this place is spacious, clean and their food according to me beats it’s other competitors. We ordered Sev Puri, Mysore Masala dosa and Dabangg Dosa and all of them tasted delicious and were really fresh. For the chaats, as long as the sev is crunchy and the veggies are fresh, you cannot go wrong, similarly, for the dosa, the filling and samabhar and chutney is the key. They need to give more filling of aloo definitely, but the taste is undoubtedly good. I would rate this 4/5. Bonus tip - Chai is really good. Tips to management: 1. Last 2-3 times i have been here, samosa wasn’t there, the things that are in high demand, MUST always be there, i heard the same thing from a couple of other friends too 2. The service is really slow and if something is not available, it should NOT be noted down while taking the order itself PS: Sitting here right now (12/8) for dinner and it was surprisingly bad!!! The masala dosa and sambhar was cold. Alse felt aloo was stale. Sev puri had way too much aloo and less chutney. The service is poor, the guy doesn’t even remember the order, the attitude is casual. Bumping down the rating, because i am really disappointed!!

Food is not freshly made. Veg Manchurian was not properly cooked. Quantity was not according to price and chat is also not up to level like you expect from Honest. Do not recommend this place. Not worth trying also. Pav is not with proper quality, not eatable. Onions was not freshly cut, smelled like it was cut 2 days ago. Customer service is zero, argumentive representative, not ready to accept that there is issue with food. Talked to the owner, who was trying to prove me that has no issue giving back money but blamed me for complainer who does not want to pay for food. Samosa chat- crushed samosa with just little chutneys Pav bhaji- tasteless, not fresh pav, when you press pav, dough will stick to end surface, onions given was probably left over from day or 2 ago with smelled weird. Manchurian- was hard, chewey, and felt like fried few times like left over, uncooked. I am always been Honest food lover and been honest customer for years but this location, I was visiting and it's been worst in food quality, I have ever experienced.

My family has eaten here several times and never been disappointed. The dosa meals are DELICIOUS! I almost always get the masala dosa, and the potato and onion on the inside are buttery, hot and tasty. We've also tried the Paneer Chili Dry (wonderful!), the Punjabi Thali (ridiculously good), the Manchurian Dry (more Chinese than Indian, but also fabulous) and the fresh-squeezed sugar cane juice (refreshingly sweet). The staff here is incredibly friendly, and I kind of love that the intensity of the food ranges from "baby mild" to hot. We found the prices to be very reasonable -- 4 of us ate our faces off for under $100. The ambiance is so-so -- it's a spacious dining area with tile floors, so it gets a bit loud and echo-y in there. I'm thinking a few tapestries on the walls would probably take care of that. But overall, this place has become one of our very favorite restaurants to visit. We travel about an hour to get there, and it's been well worth it every time!

So on 19th April in morning we ordered 4 vada pav’s by call. We clearly said we want 4 pieces of Vada pav’s for pickup order. The receptionist didn’t clerify or confirm that one plate comes with 2 servings of the vada pav and just took our order. On reaching there for pickup they immediately asked me to pay and didn’t bother to show the order. I paid 40$ and once they handed me the order I checked and saw 8 vada pav’s. I understood by looking that one plate comes with 2 pieces. I told them I just ordered 4 pieces of vada pav and by that I should have 2 boxes and I won’t be able to use the rest of them as they are too much and requested them if they can take extra 2 plates back and refund me for the same as they can use those in the restaurant but we won’t be able to consume so much quantity but they didn’t take it back and refused and when I explained them that I ordered four pieces and they misheard or mis understood . They agreed that they mis heard but they din’t refund me or took extra order back but charged me instead for their fault and tried to make me leave quickly so I don’t repeat my request. We eventually had to throw them as we got the order for a long drive. For their mistake we paid and had to throw the extra order as we couldn’t consume. They said they will give us complimentary dish for the next time we order but they just said that to make us leave from there as how will he remember what happened with us and he wouldn’t even remember what he said. Horrible experience. Service has really downgraded. Every restaurant even taking orders on phone explains the serving size. They should have asked as how would someone know how many pieces comes in one serving. Pushing the customer to accept the extra order and making customer pay for their fault was a...

Went on a Friday with my friends, it's a very terrible experience. Only very selective dishes were good rest all were big mess. All the chinese main course and appetizers were also bad. We returned three items if possible we would have returned all the dishes. Will not recommend, on top that service was also bad. Manger was serving us and he was busy chitchatting rather than checking the customer. Even water was not served until we asked for it. For this I ended up paying 18% of gratuity.

Response for the owner

The only two items we took is Chole poori and Rava dosa.

Chole poori was good no issues.

Rava dosa was not good, but a lot was left. So my friend took it home to avoid food wastage.

When I say service is bad, below is what I meant

Water was served very late, after food was served I asked for water that's when they brought it.

Food was served on time, but when we need some help for ordering food for the guest who joined as late no one was there. They need to wait almost 15 mins.

We also waited for a long time for someone to come and get our initial order.

Usually in restaurants after food is served, server will check with guest on how is the food. But yesterday when we want to say that our food is not good, no one was available. As I mentioned earlier the manger was busy chatting with someone for a very long time. I lost my patience and went and called the manager who was busy chatting.

If the service is not good why would someone be paying 18% tip.

Just to let you know this is my 4th visit and never had issues before with my team. But yesterday's visit...

At the outset, we are 'repeat' customers of Honest Restaurant, West Broad Street, Richmond, VA.

Two weeks prior to our family event on 15th September 2024, we visited Honest Restaurant, enjoyed our dinner, met with Mr. Kiran, a customer-centric Team Lead, and Mr. Nehal Patel, the franchise owner, for about 30 minutes, discussed their catering services, and types of vegetarian dishes to serve around 40 guests. They listened to our requirements patiently and professionally and gave us a reasonable quote.

Not only did Mr. Nehal Patel, the franchise owner, deliver the sumptuous vegetarian dishes in time, but he also came in with a stainless steel chafer dish kit and wick-type fuel canisters (as opposed to aluminium trays), set it up like a buffet stall in our community hall, and wonderfully played host to our guests. Yes, they warmly served out the dishes to our guests professionally and palatably, much to our satisfaction.

The dishes we ordered were Phav Bhaji, Naan, Aloo-Gobi, Pulav rice, Dry Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Butter Masala gravy, Rasmalai dessert, coffee, and masala chai.

These dishes were warm and fresh, and the spice level was just about right for everybody to relish them. Our guests enjoyed the vegetarian dishes and also did a 'takeout' of the surplus dishes.

Mr. Nehal and Ms. Nancy, a pleasant team member, were out and out amazing in their services as they ensured every one of our guests was served with great hospitality and professionalism. Thank you, Mr. Nehal and...
