Absolutely the worse Denny's I have been to, and I've eaten at many Denny's all over the country. The dining room was only half full, but even in primetime dining hours, there was minimal staff.
It took about half an hour for my family to be seated, and the waiter left before we could tell him what we already wanted. He came by again shortly after to bring us our waters and take our orders. My girlfriend and I were only staying for a short while and ordered a shake, making it very clear to bring us the check with the shake. Fifteen minutes go by, and we get out shake, no check. 3 different servers came to our table to ask us if we needed anything, but none of them brought us our check until almost an hour has passed.
My mom and brothers ordered food, and were patiently waiting the entire time for something to come out to our table. All we received was the empty words of the servers. By the time my girlfriend and I received the check for our hour-old milkshake, the food my brother's and mom ordered still hasn't arrived. The server told us that the cooks were having a hard time keeping up with the customers, and welcomed us to have soup or salad while they waited. He also mentioned that if the wait is too long, they could leave, which gave me the impression that they did not even start cooking their food yet!
That wouldn't bother me nearly as much if everyone seated after us already weren't finished eating and paying for their checks.
The management needs to seriously fix this place, and I'm surprised it ia still in business. Everytime I've been here for the last 7 years has been a poor experience. I have typically sub-par service at Denny's, but this really is the pinnacle of staff who does not care for their customers. If you need to get your grand slam fix, go to the Denny's on Mooney. They have always been pretty decent and take care of...
Read moreWalking in there were two servers cleaning waiting benches which was a good sign; the business was not busy. I was seated promptly and courteously. I was given a seating choice. The booth and table were clean but I noticed crumbs on the the neighboring table. The server was prompt and courteous (I believe her name was Ashley). The menu needed some cleaning. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken and two portions of broccoli. The meal was served quickly, and hot, oh for a HOT meal. The chicken had excellent flavor for frozen, marinated chicken. It was tender and nicely browned. The tomato and feta topping was a good choice. The broccoli was a little overcooked but acceptable. The portion was ample and I was satisfied. There was a server turnover which was well done but I did not see the new server again for some time, maybe 10 minutes afterwards. I was approached by another server that called me "honey". That would be fine if we were lovers or even close friends but not as a stranger. I observed a server clearing and cleaning tables with, what I assume to be, a bleach solution. The bill was reasonable and overall I was pleased with the meal and service. I would eat there again. Keep up the good effort and work on...
Read moreI'm normally not in the habit of sending / notifying companies of their service / product unless I have had an experience that is incredibly good or incredibly bad--in this case, your store located at 200 S. Akers Street in Visalia, was simply awesome for my wife and I; and I think you should know it's probably the best run Denny's I have ever visited. Our visit was on Sunday, June 5th, around 9am. We sat at the counter and were simply awe struck at how well your team works together, and presumably under the busiest time possible--Sunday morning. We also noticed the little details where if someone could have spared some time after completing a task, they did not; instead, they all instinctively and without hesitation would jump in to help the worker next to them to make their job that much easier, and for the team as a whole. From a professional standpoint, I have dedicated my career and much of my educational pursuits on what makes a great team, I am still searching for that answer, but I will tell you this--if someone needs an example of what a great team looks like, look no further than the Denny's restaurant team at 200 S. Akers...
