Ike's Love & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

Worst food service experience I have EVER had. My girlfriend and I walk in. The first thing the cashier says "Why are both of your faces red" We are like umm because it's hot? All while he is slouching over the counter. We get our food ordered and sit down. 5 mins later a mother and her disabled child walk in to order. I hear the cashier being rude to them but I just stay out of it. Until I heard him shouting at her across the store trying to embarrass her saying "DON'T STEAL I WILL CALL THE COPS ON YOU HAAHAHAH" Meantime the customer was just standing there.... she wasn't even doing anything. I found this behavior completely unacceptable. As a manager myself, I would never speak to customers like that. He only spoke to them like that because they were vulnerable. I stood up and confronted him for his unprofessionalism and then he started commenting on my clothes, my weight. Everything. This guy not only discriminated against a mother and her daughter. He discriminated against me when I was only trying to do the right thing. I included a picture of him. My sandwich was good, the one my gf got tasted like freezer burnt bread....

Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Through the years? I have had a lot of Ike's and always looked forward to the next. Then... "Love" ended.

Like many other opportunistic "entrepreneurs" who are raising their prices to take advantage of the profit-taking era we currently find ourselves? You decided that you needed a raise (Take some Profits). Your company is driving up inflation with the other profit-takers. Okay... you raised your prices... we "sucked-it-up"...

Then?

You "weenied out" your sandwiches. Big, hearty sandwiches so big that you could eat half and save the other half for later...

The bread stayed the same, the guts of the sandwich were decimated. Your sandwiches are pale reminders of their former glory.

I bragged so much to my girlfriend about how great Ike's is and what a great value it is (although, a bit pricey). She FINALLY ordered her FIRST Ike's. She hated it. Too much money for too little sandwich. I told her that she should have tried it a year ago. I also informed her that I haven't bought from Ike's in a couple months now.

Did Ike lose his "Love" for his customers? I haven't been back.

You know what this place used to be my go too place. But lately I feel the staff is high on drugs. The Mexican lady that saw me walk in after calling in 2 sandwiches asked me if I had the 2 Matt cains then takes someone else's order while my sandwiches sit behind her for 10 minutes. Her hair net wasn't even on correctly and you can see her hair coming out of her hair net. The workers in back look like they are nodding off and are high on drugs. The sandwiches weren't bad but they weren't the Ike's or the quality I remember back in the day. The management of this location and its workers is terrible. I'd rather go to mr pickles where the staff is coherent and they actually communicate with you and not look like some high sloppy mess. Very poor customer service and it's appalling that such an establishment would be so poorly run in the center of Walnut Creek?

I'm surprised you guys are still there but then I remember the ingredients used is what makes your sandwiches good. But the staff and the f*king customer service is...
