Andaman Thai is my new favorite Thai restaurant in Walnut Creek!! Located across the street from the downtown Kaiser hospital, it is pulled slightly away from the hubbub of central downtown with easier parking (there is a mid-sized lot for the shopping center, though all the spots were metered in recent years at $2/hr). The interior ambiance is very nice- everything is incredibly clean and well-decorated with real plants and fun seasonal decor. The staff are incredibly nice, welcoming, and knowledgable. I am vegan and gluten-free, and most items on the menu can be made vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free upon request. I especially recommend the Thai Iced Tea (you can order with coconut milk for dairy-free and it has a fun shaved ice on top), Basil Fried Rice, and the Pad Thai (a strong take on the classic). The service is quick to get seated (normally within 10 mins even when busy- they don't take reservations but you can add yourself to the waitlist in person or when nearby), and the food also comes out quickly (within 5 mins of ordering for starters and within 15 mins of ordering for entrees). The pricing is standard for Thai food in Walnut Creek (around $15 per vegetarian entree) but the portion sizes are more generous than other places. Andaman is also family-owned and have a very sweet mission/history statement about honoring their late chef- father in the menu. I feel happy to support them and grateful to have them in Walnut Creek! My experience ordering takeout from them (via DoorDash) has also been smooth- food was well-packed for travel and still fresh when it arrived. Definitely check out Andaman Thai if you are craving high-quality, well-priced, dietary-restrictions-accessible Thai food in the...
Read moreNot sure the reason for such a high rating for this place. Compared to San Ramon location this place should get only two stars for the service and food quality. Modern Thai design is the key and that’s what gets the rating. From the moment we got in we were pleasantly treated by the host, and nicely seated at the further end of the restaurant. Our server May came rushing with “ready / not? I’m gone” attitude. Two mins later we’ve called her and made an order that had to wait over 15 mins to get served. Outside of the presently decorated dishes the “Pineapple fried rice” was more of a sticky rice, and in some parts was even clubbed together as white rice bundle. Flat flavored and just Okay. Did not impressed. It is hard to spoil the taste of lemongrass there for Lemongrass Chicken was good. One word of advice, this dishes should be served with rice, whether you order it or not, little bowl is a must. Overall ambience is minimalistic and modern Thai style. Felt like something was missing though. Not cozy. Parking is something to consider at $2/hour. On the way out, the contractors were building the restaurant porch and parked their Honda van on the walkway, blocking the path for the stroller. Overall, one time place. There are a much better...
Read moreFood was great, as to our expectations, lady waiter with short hair kept bugging us to order which was mildly aggravating and never really smiled during the process either which was disappointing
I loved the ambience of the place, they use real flowers which is cool, and plate their dishes well
Food is priced fairly too, I gave a sub par tip at the end and the waiter got a little feisty and asked if her service was ok, when in reality, she was trying to ask why her tip was so low, in my eyes, she should be lucky she got any tip at all considering how uneasy she made us feel , anyway we got up and left and we wont be returning , there are a few other Thai places I can name off the top of my head in the area that beat this place by a mile.
Irrelvant but, $13 USD for a plate of 6 pieces of naan bread is just unacceptable, that is actually robbery in the first degree, also part of the reason I won’t be coming back
