Dairy Palace — Restaurant in Washington

There is a menu on the outside wall that lists only part of what they have to sell. However, there are no prices listed. Therefore, I had to order in the blind and hope for the best. While waiting for my food, I made a few observations.

There was a menu and price list on the wall beside the cash register so that the cashier could view and ensure she charged correctly. It was an 8.5"×11" sheet of paper with information hand written and obviously not created and located for use by customers.

A customer had placed an order but appeared to be struggling to produce the money needed for the purchase. The only way I knew this was because I heard the employees talking about him and gathering to watch him at his truck. Eventually, he returned to the window with a handful of change, and the cashier's face showed total disgust. After he got his food and got on his truck, some employees gathered again to talk about him and watch him until he left. I may be wrong, but they could have known him and knew something about him that I did not know. Therefore, feeling comfortable in their actions. However, as a customer observing the interaction, I believe they were acting very unprofessional and reasoned that if they treated him that way, there's no tell what they would say about me if there was an event with me.

I observed a new customer try to figure out what he wanted to purchase, but due to the lack of a menu, he had to ask several questions to the employee. The customer mentioned that he had heard great things about the ice cream there, and he came to try it for the first time but couldn't figure out what options were available. The employee seemed to be very pleasant as he described the ice cream options. The customer eventually ordered and received a sundae in a cup and seemed to be satisfied as he walked away.

I ordered a double cheeseburger, which tasted alright. I believe it would have tasted better if it had more chili and salt on it.

In summary, I believe this place has been in operation so long that they assume the majority of their business will be with local customers and may have lost their edge on staying relevant to...

Really hate to leave this review- but the way I was spoken to this morn is just unacceptable. Called to make order and gave the first sandwich. While waiting on acknowledgment I answered a question from my SO. Then still waiting- lady says are you going to have a conversation or place an order? I was like ma’am I was waiting on acknowledgment- and she said something else- I can’t even remember tbh bc I was incredulous- everyone else there is nice and I don’t just blast off the order bc sometimes takes time to either get a pen or write it out whatever. So I asked her name- she starts laughing and goes An-gel-aa. I ask to speak to someone else- and someone took the phone-I asked was this really happening or is this that serious and I got hung up on. I called back and asked the same while someone I’m assuming Angela is still laughing in the background and I get hung up on again. I called back and a male answers so I ask is owner there and when he will be in. I’m told the info and end the call. Had she simply said ma’am, I’m waiting -I would’ve apologized And gave the rest of the order. Anyway I Spoke to a couple folks about the situation and was made aware that she has gotten nasty with people before but because she has been there years it will do no good to say anything to owner. Just sad- I know the loss of our money isn’t nothing with what he brings in but we ordered daily and sometimes...

I really don’t know why everyone thinks this place is great. It’s horrible, first off why not use a ticket system instead of relying on the cashier to remember exactly what everyone ordered. The wait times for the trash food are absolutely ridiculous and they don’t bother providing any type of seating while you wait. After waiting for over 30 minutes in direct sunlight with no seat, and every person that pulls up leaves their vehicles running so it’s completely uncomfortable while waiting. The sidewalk in front of the building is disgusting and the smell from the trash container 10 feet away baking in the hot Carolina sun was overpowering. I finally received my food and was completely disappointed with the wait time and atmosphere i didn't want to even give the food a chance. The fries were bland with no salt and the burger was large but way overcooked and the condiments on the burger tasted...
