My mother, brother, and I decided to go to Insomnia Cookies in Georgetown on the night of May 25, 2020. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the location restricts the number of customers (two at a time) in the store and everyone has to be wearing a face-covering as per the order by the D.C. mayor. My mother and I wrapped our hijabs around our faces and my brother used a Palestinian kufiya I had in my car as a face covering. I was in the store waiting for our turn to place our order and the women at the register can clearly see that my face is covered. When our turn arrived, I called my mother and brother into the store so they can give her their orders. Before we had a chance to say anything, the women said "you need to being wearing a face mask," which contradicts the signs they have posted around the store. I informed her our faces are covered and that it is in accordance with the mayor's order and the store policy. She looked at us and said "that's only a hijab". This is when the situation escalated and she refused to serve us and went to the back of the store, hoping we would leave. I called out to her and said "excuse me ma'am, are you going to come to take our order?" to which she responded "I'm done talking, I already spoke". The customers outside got involved and began telling her she is being discriminatory since she refused to serve us because we are using the hijab as a face covering. Her manager came into the store and asked about what was going on, then proceeded to defend the employee, insisting that it was a miscommunication. This entire time, the employee remained in the back of the store, refusing to serve us. Eventually, her manager took our orders but the situation wasn't resolved. Officers responding to a call in the area got involved with the situation and took everyone's statements. They also documented the sign saying face covering not mask and informed everyone involved that this is a hate crime. On May 28, 2020, we will receive the official police incident report. My mother and I want to take this employee, as well as the company to court because of this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off cookies are great. If you can, dine in, DO NOT DO DELIVERY!! Back in April I placed an order around 1pm that never showed. I called the location, twice no one picked up, and the third time someone just picked up and like set the receiver on the counter with no answer. It took weeks of emails back and forth with ācustomer serviceā to get a refund. Their idea of ārecoveryā of a dissatisfied customer was a $10 gift card, halfhearted at best IMO. Against my better judgment tonight, 6/23/22, I decided to use the promo code and place an order for delivery. The order arrived pretty quickly but I soon realized the milk on the order wasnāt there. I asked the uber eats driver if he had it and he said āthatās all they gave me.ā One strike against him for not double checking but Iāll save that complaint for another day. I call the insomnia location at 9:15 and the guy who answered says āwe donāt have any drinksā and that I have to call customer service for the refund, that he canāt process the refund (which I know not to be true because Iāve been through it before). I asked him that doesnāt he think he couldāve at least called to give me a heads up about the missing item and what my next steps would have to be. This unhelpful representative of the brand then says (and hereās the kicker) ādonāt you think thatās your job?ā I told him that doesnāt even make sense then got hung up on. Bottom line: save the headache, most everythingās a little bit s*#tier now, and insomnia cookies is amongst the fallout. Now I have to go start the 3 week process of getting my $3.50 refund for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ordered cookies for seventeen dollars about an hour and a half ago. We received a text saying the order is on the way but never received on when the order was ready. We got a call and we talked to the driver for about ten minutes but could never find him. We walked around for about 20 minutes because when we tried to call the driver, it said the call was blocked or disconnected. After that, we called the store and informed them of the situation. We talked for about a minute and then we were hung up on. We looked We are yes hello for the driver for about ten to fifteen more minutes, totaling around forty five minutes. UberEats had previously been able to find our dorm but the person we called said that the personal delivery drivers does not use Uber. Yet when we called again, I was informed that they did use Uber. I tried asking what happened with the order and they said they delivered it but it was never delivered. They told me to contact customer service yet they didnāt give me the number and I couldnāt find it online. When we were walking, it was dark out. While we felt mostly safe at our campus, had this been another campus, I may have not felt safe and Iām worried what could have happened. Still, there were multiple times when I heard sounds and worried something was there. I have a torn ligament and I was constantly afraid that I would sprain it again which would ruin...
