Review: A Disappointing Experience at Meo Maison Cat Cafe
If you're considering a visit to Meo Maison Cat Cafe, think twice. My experience there was nothing short of a disappointment, marred by numerous issues that made the visit far from enjoyable.
First, be prepared to wait outside in the sweltering heat just to get in. There is no shade or relief from the sun, which is an immediate turn-off. Once inside, you'll quickly realize that this cafe does not live up to its name. There are no drinks or food offered on the premises. Instead, they direct you to the cafe next door. But here's the catch: there's no menu provided, and the coordination between the two places is confusing at best.
The space itself is incredibly cramped. With nowhere for humans to sit, you're left to awkwardly stand around or squat uncomfortably on the floor. The tiny area is a major problem, especially considering the $48 price tag for an hour's visit. The small, overcrowded environment is stressful not just for visitors but for the cats as well.
Moreover, the setup involves 20-minute time slots, which leads to the cats being overstimulated and visibly distressed. This quick turnover doesn't allow for a relaxed or enjoyable interaction with the animals, which defeats the whole purpose of visiting a cat cafe. To make matters worse, there are strict rules prohibiting you from picking up the cats, further limiting the interaction and enjoyment.
Adding insult to injury, visitors are required to remove their shoes and pay an additional $2 for socks if you forget to bring your own. This mandatory charge is both inconvenient and feels like a cash grab on top of the already exorbitant entrance fee. Additionally, there is no Wi-Fi password provided, leaving you disconnected and unable to even pass the time online during your wait.
In summary, Meo Maison Cat Cafe is grossly overpriced and poorly managed. From the uncomfortable wait outside to the lack of basic amenities and the stressful environment for the cats, it is an experience I would not recommend. Save your money and your time – there are far better ways to spend...
Read moreThe cafe was okay, I do have one grip with the entrance to it - it is super cramped! There's a shoe box and a podium in there and very little room to transition in and out, I felt rushed to get my shoes on/off as I was there because there were people crowding. I think moving the shoe box inside after you enter would be better and clear up some congestion in the front room.
Despite this, it's not that bad of a cafe - you get to see cats at least! The cats themselves seem sweet and playful. I had quite a few that were quick to come up and nuzzle me so I feel like theyre getting well socialized here. I liked that one of the staff on my visit seemed to know a lot about the cats and readily had recommendations for us when asked.
I chose to adopt a cat from there, I worked with the Lucky Dog Rescue to submit an application . I'm not sure if the same rescue supplies all their cats but Lucky Dog was a pleasure to work with, specifically coordinator Lindsey Cope. I submitted my application on Thursday and the very next day she was reaching out to set up time to talk about my options. We did a call on Monday and a few days later I was picking up my newly adopted cat. I really like how proactive the whole process was. I know I've worked with other cafe/rescue situations where it took weeks to lock down...
Read moreMèo Maison is AMAZING!
Mèo Maison is a new cat café in Georgetown. It's large, clean, really well (and cutely) decorated, and just a happy place to be. You can tell that a lot of love was poured into it, which is really nice. As is the case with most cat cafés, it's best to reserve time in advance, as they limit the number of folks inside at any given time.
Mèo Maison is the happiest cat café I've been to in the world - and I've literally been to dozens. You can tell that the cats are genuinely happy and thriving here: they're cuddly, relaxed, and just enjoying their lives. While some cat cafes can feel a bit crowded, smelly, and tense, Mèo Maison is spacious, clean, and just plain happy. It doesn't surprise me that the cats here get adopted really quickly, as it's really hard to not want to...
