Worse Ruth Chris location * we have ever been to! Von was our server he was friendly but then barely ever came to visit us even when he was at the table right next to us. He could have checked in on us right next to him but he rushed off and did not. He began by not writing our order down and having to come back to ask me again what we ordered. No one came to clear our clear our first courses before our main course came. Our appetizer, soup and salad came out all at the same time brought out by a very confused food runner not by our server or not accompanied by our server Von. The lobster bisque was runny and so liquid it was all water with almost no flavor like they were trying to stretch whatever soup was left over for the guest that was there it had a few small shreds of lobster in it. It was the worst lobster bisque I have ever tasted. The veal ravioli appetizer was flavorless and bland in my opinion. The wedge salad and the chop salad were fresh and the only edible thing there. However, my husband said it tasted like coleslaw. He hates coleslaw. The bread was fresh and tasted good and served just before all of this so our table was so crowded we barely had room to eat. Von did check in to see how the appetizers, soups and salads were and we said great but we didn’t want to cause a fuss the soup and appetizer were awful. We ordered the filet and lobster. I ordered my steak medium rare and my husband ordered his steak medium. The very confused food runner showed up with our food and sides (asparagus with hollandaise sauce and the au gratin potatoes). He asked if we would like our plates removed and he looked around for someone else to remove them. No one else was even close or in sight to help him. We were like yes please. He accidentally switched our steaks and our lobsters were both rubbery and very over cooked and disgusting. The steaks were tender but tasted gamey and not well prepared. We didn’t even eat much of the steaks we couldn’t stomach them they were just awful. Our asparagus with hollandaise sauce were undercooked but the sauce was cold and jelly like and more like mayonnaise very badly made not at all like a good hollandaise sauce. It wasn’t even poured over the asparagus but placed on the side in a small cup. The au gratin potatoes were cubed potatoes with diced onions undercooked and covered in cheese not properly cooked they were not edible either just disgusting. I really liked other Ruth Chris locations this was a horrible disappointment. I was thankful when I complained to the lovely hostess about the awful service Von had barely visited with us she heard me and went and told manager and at least got some taken off the bill. However, with the food and service there is no way we would ever return to this location not to mention there was no dress code. No dress code. One thing that really topped it all off is that nearly everyone that came in dressed in a trashy low class manner and smelled of weed when they walked in. You would have thought it was a low class bar or establishment not a Ruth Chris. I wouldn’t not go here if you would like to dress up for a...
Read moreI flew into DC and stopped there to grab dinner before going to my hotel. They seemed a bit confused on proper service. I stopped at the stand to advise that I'd like to place a to go order after calling three times and not being able to get a clear answer on if it was too late to order. I was then sent to the extremely crowded bar. I placed my order, and there was nowhere to sit, I was told by the bartender that I could have a seat at one of the tables by the windows they would be closing in less than 45 minutes. I took my drink and went and sat at the table only to be approached by the hostess and told those seats were for paying customers. No one advised me my food was free! I looked at her and advised that the bartender advised me to sit at one of the tables as the bar area was completely full. She said you'll have to move. I said ma'am I'm not moving. Now less than 30 minutes before closing and all the tables in that area was open except for three of them, mine and two that other people were sitting dining at. The manager approached me and said these tables are for customers who are dining in. I said I have a to go order. You see my drink, and again, this is where the bartender told me to sit... the BAR is FULL, sir. I'm like, I know you're not expecting me to stand and wait on my $89 meal, plus my drink was $18... come on. He was like okay you can stay here this time, but next time, it's for customers dining in." I advised him I was traveling and came straight there from the airport and don't worry, it won't be a next time! I absolutely love Ruth Chris Steakhouse, whatever city I'm in if they have one, I make it my business to go there. This was so unacceptable and...
Read moreI wish I had taken pictures because some of our food came out beautifully. But the best part of our meal was our Server Kat. This young lady is top notch. I am single and eat out weekly. Even though there were a couple food issues Kat immediately took care of it and also let a manager know even though we never asked. I am a long time customer at steak houses and my top two are Ruth Chris and Morton’s. I must admit though that because of the level of service at this location of Ruth Chris, they are starting to beat out Mortons. Now the shrimp cocktail, salads and sea bass everyone said was delicious. Even the bread they brought was warm and delicious. The one issue was my steak. I prefer it medium well but they brought it out medium. I sent it back but it came back the same way. The one thing I also want to mention is that the lobster tail was a pretty good size and mouth wateringly delicious. So tender and it melted in my mouth so when I go back I think I’ll just order a few of those lol.
Overall I had to still give them a five because anyone can cook a steak at home but no one could beat the service professionalism kindness and follow up of our Server Kat and her manager. I really wish I had the managers name because they both should be recognized. Great service is what makes a meal and an experience. My friends and I were out for the day going to a play at the Kennedy Center and this kicked it off. We enjoyed our experience so much that we decided to order desert to take with us. It was the cheesecake and it was delicious too. We’ll Definitely be back. PS of course we will be...
