Cigar connoisseurs puff away in this clubby lounge featuring humidors & a lengthy whiskey list.

Can't wait to go back here! It's like walking into the basement at your grandparents' house, and your cousins start showing up. Shelly's was warm, inviting, and intimate. The crowd was mixed. They managed to utilize every space with allows small tables of 4-6, sofas, and single chairs/recliners for the loner dropping in. People were chatting, conducting business, eating, reading, watching TV, and meeting new people. It's a great place if you don't mind a lot of people in a small space. Street parking is crazy so be prepared to walk a couple of blocks. They could improve their tequila offerings, but we settled with Dobel Anejo 😊 I heard their Old Fashions are good too! Our table had wings, loaded fries, a steak & cheese sandwich, and Shelly's burger! All delish. Their fries remind me of 5 Guys...yum! We brought our own sticks, but they have a selection to purchase from. Be prepared to spend $$$. It's not overly priced, however, depending on your smoking, eating, and drinking habits along with the size of your party - you may want to be prepared with a budget in mind. Otherwise, smoke on and enjoy Shelly's vibe!

Discovered on our first day in the US capital, we enjoyed the place for multiple reasons: - non smoker, we fear the smell of cigars, and the place where they put us didn't smell anything - the burgers were cooked exactly like asked, and prepared the way we wanted. The meat tasted good and the buns were awesome - the Asian personnel was nice and shared with us what they like and dislike, and at the same time discreetly provided a good service Overall, the experience was excellent, and the bill below our expectations. The automatically add tips because they deal with a lot of foreigners who don't know the American tipping system. When asked, they strike it out and let you do it your way. No questions asked. ==> highly recommend the Shelly's back room for the food and comfort ++: real napkins, metal silverware, leather seats, space, quiet, drinks --: ventilation and AC too intense, too cold (on purpose to create a natural flow from the non smoking room to the cigar room, preventing the smoke to smell in the dining area) FYI: they carry the "old bust head" dark beer. Drink it room temperature.

A trip back in time. Rustic elegance. We went after an early dinner. It was about 7 when we arrived, and it was fairly crowded. It's not a bube place, but it's larger than it appears from the front. The place is divided into 2 areas, lounge and bar, separated by a knee wall, stairs, and table height. Lowtops in the lounge, hightops in the bar. Wait staff was quite pleasant and other patrons were enjoying the type of laissez faire that becomes a good cigar room. I was disappointed that the ventilation system didn't seem to be up to the task and i thought our drinks (single malts neat) were stingy, though they may be using a pouring system. Otherwise, a throw back to another day that we enjoyed.

It is a smoking bar with food options so be advised. If you are into fine cigars with a great selection as well as alcohol to accompany with the cigar this is your place. Their selection and knowledge of cigars is very good. The food is decently priced with good sized portions. Be advised that the "Drunken Pasta", while tasty, is very Very spicy! I enjoyed my visit but would have liked to have had the waitress be a little more attentive as when I was ready to leave it took a while in order to get the check. Other than that there is patio seating, and while there is smoking inside it is not too overwhelming. All and all a great place for a fine whiskey an cigar.
