After a beautiful walk by the lake with my gf we were craving catfish and looked for a place with the best reviews. I told her that you couldn’t go wrong picking a New Orleans place! We were seated and attended to pretty quickly & they brought out our sprite with a smile! It was like McDonald’s sprite, good and deadly but so delicious and refreshing. The first thing that caught my eyes on the menu was how confusing it was. I didn’t know what was happening. Then I saw a boudin flautas and i was immediately fascinated by how truly unique this menu was. Only one of its kind out there I’m sure! We ended up ordering catfish and shrimp with some red bean and rice. Again you can’t go wrong with this order. But I was wrong. I was so wrong. The red bean and rice was so horrible at the first bite that I had to take a second bite to make sure I wasn’t being deceived. I’m pretty sure I was eating canned chilli with rice. The shrimp was sad. The hush puppies and jalapeño garlic toast was so disgusting I was just baffled by our meal. I couldn’t believe what I was eating. You can’t go wrong with the classics! You just can’t… but they did. They found a way. The waiter came around asking if every was okay and I know he could see the pain in my eyes as my gf patted my back trying to comfort me. The fries were so old I’m pretty sure it was microwaved. I was starving and hate returning food mostly from anxiety that my new food would get spat in so ate as much as I could of the red beans and rice in tears. The cat fish & the sprite is the reason I’m giving ‘tis review a 2 star. A star for each because they are the reason I didn’t go home hungry. I was very disappointed and I honestly do not recommend the red beans and rice or anything with their bread. I have never been so disappointed by a meal in my life. This experience...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had been wanting to try this place and went for the first time on Labor Day at about 9 PM, after a veryyyy long day of car shopping on the other side of town. Our waitress that day, Caroline, greeted us quickly and immediately informed us that they were out of pretty much everything after an unanticipated very busy day. She confirmed that they still had alcohol and a few items, however, so we were content. That night we had the fried pickles, chicken and sausage gumbo, the fish tacos, and the fried catfish. Our food was amazing, as was our waitress, despite the hectic day they had.
Fast forward a few weeks, to today, and we went back to try some more stuff. This time we sat in Oran’s section, another great member of the BB’s team. We ordered the empanadas as an appetizer, as well as and Abita Amber and a frozen Hurricane to start out with. Shortly after placing our order, our previous waitress and one of the managers quickly recognized us from Labor Day, and came over to greet us, at which point the manager told us our appetizer was on her because of our previous experience with them running out of a lot of food. As our entrees, I got the chicken and sausage gumbo, again, but with crab added this time, and my boyfriend got the Rockdale Redfish with dirty rice and collard greens. It was all so freaking good, and again our waiter was amazing. Plus, about 3/4 of the way through filling my boyfriends second Abita they ran out, and ended up comping that as well, on top of the appetizer and it being Happy Hour. Cajun dishes and seafood are definitely one of our favorites, and the food here easily lives up to our expectations. Plus, I’m a stickler for customer service, and so far I feel as though we’ve had nothing...
Read moreOur experience was definitely disappointing. Went out of our way to experience the taste of BB's but left wondering how they continue to stay open with such sub par wait staff and severely understaffed kitchen. We went with the Houston Restaurant week menu. Food was all definitely tasty but waits between food and getting the right sides to go with our food was next to impossible. By the time our butter for our shrimp was at the table the food was cold. Which by the time it had gotten to use we had asked 3 times and the waiter said about three more times it was still coming. The experience was also prolonged due to the waiter's poor time management and basically forgetting to put orders in, in a timely fashion. Its lunch rush hour. Lunch should not be a 1hr and 30min experience. Dessert never made it to the table. We waited and waited and after 15mins I had to look for our waiter to pay since no one made it back to the table. Was then offered for my brownie sundae to be put in a to go box for me to take once it is done. Sorry but I don't think that would be to tasty melted in a box to go. Staff told me they removed it off of my check. Was also offered a $10gift certificate which I declined. No need to give me more money to spend on another bad experience. Fix the problem is what I want not more money for bad service. Will not be back to this location until the have a complete restructure and re-organization of priorities. As for their other locations they are amazing. Especially the Montrose area location. Those staff members should have been in charge of management at this location and it probably would have been done right the first time. I understand growing pains after opening but this is just poor...
