I wish it was an option to not put a star at all. Too many times have I gone into this location and the place was dirty. A few days ago I called in an order. I was unsure if I had the correct place of business. The phone was answered "hello" in a rude tone, like I was inconveniencing someone. I asked if I had reached tropical smoothie café, yet again another rude response. When I came to pick up my order I know why I was treated so crass on the phone. The employee was to busy chatting with a friend. She continued the attitude upon picking up my order. Fast forward to today. I went in and made my order. I knew with the warm weather it would be a few minutes no big deal. Specifically asked the girl not to place my stuff in a carry out container. I had my small children with me they could carry their own cups. I stood and waited and waited and waited. I waited waited waited. For over half an hour where I watched several people get their orders. When they ordered after me. I stopped the one employee and asked what was going on. She asked me what my order was went to the back came back and asked me what my name was. For some reason my order was done been placed in the freezer. You guessed it in a carry out container. I didn't want to get into a discussion as to why when the store was still full in orders needed to be filled. I now have tried over 30 times to get through and cannot seem to have anybody answer the phone. Mostly because it's been off the hook. I guess I will have to drive all the way out to the Livonia location. Which is probably better in the long run. The owner Al is always there I've never had any problems. Read moreTerrible! I work for this location and the owners and management are terrible, unprofessional and illegal! We are not properly trained, we do not receive an employee handbook, and our owners have been stealing money out of our paychecks. They have been taking anywhere from 15-23 minutes off each scheduled shift. They claim Michigan law requires us to take a 15 minute unpaid break but when we looked it up that law was not in existence. Not only that but we literally do not take breaks. Ever. So there is no reason to take money out of our pay checks! When we called a meeting and confronted them about it they got angry, cut our hours and pay, decided to take out $7.50 per shift, which adds up to even more than what they were taking out before!! They also decided that (without our written consent) they were going to deduct $30 for our uniforms! We checked with other Tropical Smoothies and found out the following things:
They do not charge their employees for uniforms. They give their employees clocked out 15 minute breaks. The uniforms only cost $15... not $30.
This establishment is owned and operated illegally. DO NOT SUPPORT this business! Go to one of our other many locations that do not run their business...
Read moreMade an online order, smoothie was pretty much pure ice and tasted like water. Went in to have a remake, first of all was told to pay for the smoothie. I didn’t pay for it and it was put in and I sat and waited. Another gentlemen asked for his smoothie to be remade after me, it came out almost immediately. I sat and waited for upwards of 25 minutes for my smoothie. When I finally asked where it was, I was told they didn’t have one for me. Then they said I had 2 orders ahead of me, so ten more minutes. I finally got my remade smoothie and it tasted like it was just plain sugar water. Got home and the food was labeled wrong. The wraps aren’t different enough to distinguish between each other by looks, so I ended up eating a wrap that contained ingredients I’m not supposed to be eating. This whole trip took an hour of my day and the only thing that was good from this experience were the prepackaged chips. I work in the food service and have actually worked at Tropical Smoothie so I understand how it can be when it gets busy, but when every person who was after you gets served first and your order STILL ends up being wrong…is very frustrating.
