I couldn’t be more disappointed with Living Water Tea House. In planning a surprise activity for a two-year anniversary, I booked an 11:00 reservation for a tea tasting for my partner and I. I saw the fabulous reviews for the tasting experience and couldn’t wait to surprise my partner with it. We planned our entire day of celebrations around the 11:00 reservation and much to our disappointment, we arrived at 11:00 to an empty, dark, unopened storefront. Because there is no phone number for the shop, I had to send an email upon seeing this. The response was “sorry, someone should be there soon, around 11:30”. We then waited, 11:30 passed, 11:45 passed, and finally 12:00 came around. Someone arrived at 12:03 to open the shop finally. She informed us that “the system is broken and shouldn’t have allowed us to book a reservation at 11:00 because they don’t open until 12:00”. I assured her that I not only got a booking confirmation but also a reminder email the day before. They offered no alternative, apologies nor accommodation for this horrible customer experience. The entire day of celebrations was completely disrupted by this. We didn’t proceed with a much-delayed tasting experience given we were already horribly influenced by the happenings of the morning. The lack of professionalism, communication, and customer service excellence was truly disappointing. I don’t recommend engaging with this business in...

High-quality boba and tea! I got the dianhong milk tea with boba. It was lightly sweet at 30% sweetness and their "less ice" is actually less ice. The boba was soft but had a nice consistent texture. Prices were comparable if not lower than other boba places around Chicago. Overall, it reminded me of boba shops out west that offer a similar premium experience. I liked that they used good tea leaves and had a variety of teas, instead of emphasizing fruity flavors and sweet drinks (though they have those too, and they look good). The store interior is airy, well lit, and beautifully decorated, and matches the style of their menu well.

We got a delicious and free oolong ice cream for our order of more than $10, an easy reward to hit since $10 is only two bobas. Seems like they're experimenting with Asian flavors in ice cream, which I'd be excited to go...

Everything has changed, it was one of my favorites. I got to try a few things before they redid the menu and all of the drinks were fantastic. However since redoing the menu I have mixed feelings.

The owner cares a lot about tea and is very friendly but most of the drinks I've tried here now don't hit the mark. If you're looking for boba go else where. if you like tea this might be for you.

My most recent drink here was lukewarm, watered down, and tasted like sugar milk. Hot tea is provably a safer choice. The iced matcha latte was pretty good and the homemade gelato was flavorful and the flavors were refreshing. Its a great place to hang out and get work done but nothing on the menu appeals to me anymore.

They used to allow pets in the shop but i don't see the sign anymore which...

What a gift to have this place here in Chicago. You can order all kinds of tea drinks, sure, but my recommendation is the tea bar where you sit and enjoy what the owner is brewing. I recently learned about Chinese tea methods and the owner has shared so much more knowledge and sold me leaves to brew at home, including a Phoenix Oolong he roasted himself, the best tasting Da Hong Pao, and a raw Pu’erh. I was also able to pick up gifts for my friends and family, including a tea tray and a couple small pots. My friend also purchased a gorgeous Gaiwan from him. This place is at the top of my list for where to spend time in Chicago. If you love tea, it’s a must-visit.

This tea house is beautiful! You can tell the owner is passionate about tea and is glad to share his knowledge and give free samples. There's classy music playing from Homepods, good Wi-fi, and lots of seating. I ordered a black milk tea, and it tasted refined with unsweetened tea offset by sweet crystaline tapioca and oat milk. If you like a bit of sweetness in every sip, stay with full sweetness — it's still less than most other shops. There's a beautiful selection of teacups for sale. The owner mentioned that the downstairs floor will eventually be turned into a larger tasting room as they pivot further towards gourmet tea.
