What a cool vibe and amazing craft cocktails. Did I mention Caviar? We were welcomed in right at opening by one of the owners, Tyler and the bartender, Tessa. We told them we were meeting about 4 to 10 people and would be there a few hours. They were very accommodating and put a few tables together for us even though only 2 of us were there for the first hour and a half. Tyler explained the cocktail Menu to us with great detail and even explained the difference in spirits and mixology behind the cocktails. Very cool. I had the Caviar Martini with Belvedere 10 Vodka and Caviar stuffed olives served in a chilled glass on an ice plate. As a self-proclaimed Martini afficionado, this was a perfect Martini and Caviar just made it unique and very special. Between our group we sampled the wine list, while limited, it was excellent and unique offerings. We tried the Tijuana Brass- rave reviews of the foam; Death Flip- unique and also delicious; a Japanese Manhattan; beer, and several of the other cocktails. Not one disappointment in the evening. We also had a charcuterie board and some other snacks that were excellent. Throughout the evening the service was incredible and atmosphere was comfortable with good music playing and the book writer theme was well incorporated. We loved it at Inkwell Bar Chicago and will be back anytime we are...
Read moreTerrence and Tess are amazing. I’ve come here by myself a few times and recently brought my mom in. My mom may not go to any other bar besides Inkwell in Chicago ever again. She loved her manhattans. The vibe is sexy and straight out of where authors would dream of working/drinking from for their whole day. It’s impossible to not feel like Bukowski, Hemingway, Tolstoy, or Henry Miller while drinking at this bar. Unpretentious, but they should be. Sexy interior. The perfect missing piece of the west loop. Everyone should have every after dinner drink here. Try the Kick Push, the entire daiquiri section, and the manhattans are incredible. This bar may quickly become the hardest bar to get into in the west loop. Amazing service, amazing cocktails, and the best possible new addition to the neighborhood that nobody saw coming. Cheers, guys....
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience. We went with a group of four for drinks when we stumbled upon this speakeasy. There was only one server/bartender working. We waited 10 mins to be seated, and then another 10 mins to order, and waited for the check for another 10 mins. The bill was 78 dollars for 4 drinks, and I tipped 10%. The server was not happy with the tip and created a scene there and started misbehaving a lot. He was extremely rude, and said we don't behave right. Raised his voice at us and asked us not to be back again. He was almost threatening. Management - Please do something about this guy. We were a group of students and cannot possibly afford to tip more that that or pay 100$ for four drinks. Absolutely ridiculous I almost...
