I think salt and straw is okay. It’s not the best ice cream I’ve had but it’s definitely not bad ice cream! They have a variety of creative fun flavors which I think rocks, they’re super sweet and I feel like they have a lot of specialty flavors with cookies / chunks in them. (I’m less of a fan of those) ive had the honey lavender and it was good, and then I had the cinnamon snickerdoodle and the oat milk and cookies. Both are heavier flavors. I’ve tasted a bit the red velvet with frosting and it was super sweet! the ice cream isn’t as milky as some other ice creams I’ve had. I think if you like exotic flavors or trying new ice cream flavors you’ll probably enjoy salt and straw. Their waffle cones are good and definitely fresh. One satisfying thing is that the portions are large. A lot of LA I’ve cream spots aren’t as generous with their scoops. The single scoop is actually more than enough ice cream here — you can even choose a “split scoop” where you get the size of one scoop but two flavors! The service here has always been good each time I’ve been, and This location has outdoor seatings that’s cute, and it’s located on a corner stop on Santa Monica blvd. The parking in the back is super tight and limited but you can find street parking around the block. The reason why I gave it three stars was because the ice cream was sweeter than my taste, I didn’t fully enjoy the heaviness of the chocolate cookie chunks in the ice cream and the location had some people soliciting outside nearby. It doesn’t always feel like the safest location but it’s fine in the daytime. i do believe salt and straw is a pretty good ice cream chain though, and definitely...
Read moreI have many experiences with Salt and Straw, excited to have this shop open at West Hollywood and get to enjoy the seasonal flavors. Unfortunately, some of the employees are a "miss-match" with the elevated quality of service a customer expects from a specialty ice cream shop. The service I received today was similar to a service from a television nightmare skit from someone that hates their job. I do think it is something else, but to keep this review short I'd deffer to elaborate on the subject. So I ordered and there are automatic gestures and actions that an employee does that pertains to work, so I asked to have the two in a cups to go so she could refrain from putting spoons on the cup. I was stunned when she pulled the spoon out oof the cup, she hurled the spoon out of the cup into the trash as she rolled her eyes in front of me Not even a psychopath would do that. As the transaction was about to conclude, I was hesitant towards handing over my card because what she did was very hostile and passive aggresive. I gave her a tip, because I want her to know somewhere in her salary is a customer's money in which she gave a terrible anti-social display of her behavior. From the moment Salt and Straw opened at West Hollywood till this evening is the length of time my support for your establishment ends. A brand's product might be exquisite but the people that purchase your merchandise would take a pass from service that is...
Read moreSalt and Straw is as good as always so I have nothing negative to say about the ice cream at all, it’s top notch. However, one employee at this location was out of line and I felt like I had no choice but to comment on it here. He was a young guy with long pink hair. I came in with my sister and he was very shamelessly staring her down.. to the point where she felt extremely uncomfortable and grabbed my arm. I sort of looked up and said “um..” and tried to break the weird tension by asking a question about the ice cream. He seemed very put off by my intervention and sort of scoffed at me and begrudgingly said a couple words about the flavor. Confused, I looked back at my sister as he rounded the corner and could STILL see her uncomfortable.. as of course.. he was still staring at her with a dead look in his eye. I couldn’t quite tell if he was high or not, but it was extremely weird. So naturally when it came time to pay I did not tip him and he sort of did a “pssh” under his breath. I’m not a negative person and I never write stuff like this but safe to say I’ll never go to this...
