Guisados has hands down been the best place for Tacos in LA. Each of the tacos I had were flavourful They serve their tacos using corn tortillas which add even more flavour to the fillings. They serve beef, chicken, pork, seafood and veggie options. They also serve Tamales and Agua frescas. Each taco is 2.75 (except for seafood which is slightly more). I have tried the following flavours. (Compiled over multiple trips)
Mole Pablano : Shredded chicken in mole sauce. Not spicy yet crunchy. Favourite in the chicken category
Chicken Tinga : This tangy and juicy shredded chicken in sauce.
Cochinita di Pibil: My favourite taco here! They have varied levels of spiciness to suit your taste. I'd suggest go with the mild one to begin with.
Pork Verde : Pork in salsa Verde. Good stuff if you love chilli Verde.
Chorizo : Pork chorizo taco. Another one of favs. They could do with some more chorizo fillings for the taco.
For vegetarians:
Quesadilla taco: The little piece of cheese wrapped in a taco shell blew my mind. Must have for vegetarians.
Frijoles con queso : Your regular veggie taco with queso.
Hongos con cilantro : If you like mushrooms, this is a good choice.
A plate of 3 tacos is pretty filling. You can try the sampler if you are confused about what to order. The Agua frescas are good but I found them on the sweeter side. All in all a great...
Read moreI hate rigged reviews so felt I owed it to you to post an honest review.
The tacos were decent but be aware they are gravy tacos, like stew on a torllia. Hence, I don't like this concept at all because you can't enjoy the true flavor and texture of the meat and it allows the restaurant the ability to mix old product with new product. Not saying they would do this, I just want to know what I'm eating and stew belongs in a bowl not a tortilla.
Now to the reason I know the reviews are rigged for the most part.....the tacos are so small you can finish in two bites. Take that along with the ridiculous prices and you have a typical overpriced BH restaurant. So tell me...how do they rate a $ symbol? For a taco shop comparatively speaking, this place would easily be a $$ it $$$ restaurant and I'm taking size and price into consideration. Be prepared to spend some bucks if you want to leave full.
OK, so someone had to do this and I'm the one. Sorry if it offends you but the truth often hurts. If you're going to charge ridiculous prices be sure a give people their money's worth. And offer some traditional tacos and salsas you would be...
Read moreGuisados. Tacos. There are those nights when you're hungry and you just don't know what to eat, you don't feel like cooking, and you can't decide on what will satiate your appetite. That is when I go to guisados. The taco sampler is inexpensive and it's enough food 2 Rafael any appetite with enough variation in taste and texture to satisfy even the pickiest taco eater. I can taste Boyle Heights and East LA in every bite while sitting in an Alleyway in Beverly Hills. There's something very special about this particular location as well. The staff makes you feel like you're eating at someone's house, they are so welcoming, so warm, so friendly and makes me want to eat...
