I was in LA visiting friends and wanted to try this place because of seeing the show on TV, BUT ..... It's all just pomp and circumstance, no big deal. At least for the 9 of us that went. The place is decorated beyond belief, Thanks to Lisa and her impeccable taste. As for the taste of the food ... well not so much! It's overpriced and bland for what you would think from the area and hype of the place itself. When I ordered my food I thought they had brought me a sample platter, not my appetizer/meal. 3 Tacos for $20 and my drink another $20+, for what??? Each time I reordered the same drink it looked and tasted different each time. The local Mexican Restaurant serves better tasting food, and more of it (rice, beans, chips and salsa) for $12 and a Margarita for $8.00 that both actually have flavor and are filling to the eye and stomache. Don't get me wrong about the drinks at Tom Toms. They have many tasty and unique one of a kind, specialty drinks that are quite good, but I can get three premium Margaritas from the local Mexican place for the price of one at Tom Toms. As for the entertainment, it's always jumpin inside, but so overcrowded that it's uncomfortable to get around. Especially if you need to get to the restroom. If and when you do, Ladies Only, prepare to wait. Don't head over with a full bladder or you might not make it back to your table the way you left it, if you know what I mean!!!! So, for a recap. I've tried most of the food and many of the drinks (for my blog, which I won't give the name of right now) and have to say that I was not impressed. Prices are way to high for what you get. Drinks are costly and inconsistent with each refill, in appearance and taste. Atmosphere is jumpin to the point of uncomfortable overcrowding. So if you're into the flashiness of saying you went to Tom Toms for drinks and fun, you'll get it. At a premium price for not such premium service, food or drink. Sorry guys! Maybe spend less on your horrible outfits and put a little bit of thought into your Bar and...
Read moreWas in LA on business from NYC and was looking forward to enjoying this famed restaurant, however, the experience was far from credible given it was established by Lisa Vanderpump, Tom Scwartz, and Tom Sandoval themselves. Giving credit where credit is due, I think the atmosphere was beautiful. However when it falls to service, it is completely understaffed , and this was confirmed when we asked our server. It took about 20 minutes after being seated when I had to get up and ask the Host if my section had a server. Once seated again, waiting about 5 mins for the server (not to the fault of the server, since it did seem to be understaffed by observation). Placed an order for two drinks and two small plates (was hoping to enjoy more). Food was dropped with no regards to place settings. No water. Not even the runner took note while placing the food that there was not place settings, so we were left to eat with our hands. Decided that we wanted to close the smallest tab because it was a subpar experience thus far and didn't want to wait another length of time to get food. Had to get back up to go ask the host if it was ok to get our bill. Was confirmed by the server that they were understaffed again at which point they said ,"you do not have to tip me..." followed by other explanations on how there were other management issues. All this to say, As I would like to point my insufficient service to the regards of my server, I must first look to the Owners of the venue and there ability to hire the staff that they need to run an establishment like this. Maybe focus less on your TV ventures and more on living up to what you started doing as your career in the...
Read moreThere were a group of 7 women who traveled from Dallas to LA for a bachelorette trip. We were excited to be in a new City and of course try TomTom out (we are fans of VPR and just left from having dinner at SUR). After getting inside, ordering drinks, and snapping a few pictures a seat opened at the bar. Two of the girls from our group sat down for a few minutes when they were approached by the gentleman from the front door in a suit, he told them he needed the stool because the bar was going to standing room only. No problem, we're understanding (half of us are in the service industry back home) shortly after a small section on a couch opened, so we migrated there so a few girls could sit. A server then greeted us, we were about halfway done with our first round by this time. We told him we were okay at the moment but will order our next round from him. He seemed fine with it, he was very plesent considering how busy it was. A couple of minutes later the same gentleman in the suit approached us again, this time telling us we couldn't sit there either. Again, we know how it works in a restaurant/bar and we were more than happy to order our next $123 round from the server. There were a few questions asked, such as why he never took anyone else's seats at the bar, and why he again is approaching us after we've already talked to the server. He was snappy and rude, so we closed our tab and left. We were really excited to be there, spend our money, and make memories with the upcoming bride. Instead we left with a bad taste and wasted $150. Please know the bartenders, server, and the guy doing the shot bar were all great. Just beware of the angry guy in the suit at...
