TL;DR: Basically a Costa Vida but potato based rather than rice and bean based. Food and service were both great!
Foreword: This is my first time at a SpudToddos, so novelty factor may bias my review. I don't know how this one compares to others, if there are others... I didn't actually check before writing this...
This place is definitely going to become one of my go-tos. While I don't usually care for fries, I do like potato's in general. Ironically, what I ended up getting was the Pulled Pork Garbage Fries. I do not regret this lapse in precident. They were indeed quite excellent, and as per usual, I was unable to finish the "full" portion size. Re-heatability is as of yet untested, but I would be surprised if a couple minutes in a microwave didn't result in roughly the same quality as fresh. (Not to say that the food is as low quality as a typical microwave dinner)
Beyond the food itself, the employees were very pleasant and attentive. They answered questions and engaged with customers not just like an employee, but also with an air of genuinity you don't always get from food service. I hope they get paid at least $12 hourly otherwise they're not getting their minimum worth, at least in my eyes.
All in all, if you like American Potato cuisine such as smothered skins and fries, meat over mash, or even the ubiquitous Turkey Dinner (which makes me wonder how many people come here close to Thanksgiving), I doubt SpudToddos will dissapoint. If I had this while I was still in school, this would have been a great place to go whele out and about just having a day with friends.
As an addendum: They have a mixin bar for their...
Read moreMy only regret is that I didn’t visit sooner.
This was my first time at SpudToddos. The fact that I’ve lived near this place for over a year and haven’t tried it till now is something I’m still kicking myself over. SpuddToddos is locally owned and operated so get out there and support them!
The restaurant is very clean, modern and inviting. The menu may be a little different than what you’re used to but I think it’s a good thing in this world of copycat and cookie cutter restaurants. Definitely refreshing. I ordered the poutine with roast beef added for myself and the chili SpudToddo for my wife. The staff were pleasant and made ordering very easy. The owner Todd was at the register to ring me up. All I can say from this experience is wow. Just wow.
The portions are huge and have a great balance of all the listed components. I didn’t feel either dish had too much or too little of anything. My wife’s potato was excellent. The potato itself is huge and cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth bites are the idea here. The chili is some of the best I’ve ever tasted and I foresee myself ordering it by the bowl.
What really shined for me though was the poutine. The gravy. Oh the gravy. You could baptize a child in this gravy. It is a religious experience. The cheese curds were delicious and a little melted. And the roast beef was so tender and juicy and flavorful all on the best fries I’ve ever been served. This is my favorite dish here for now.
I’m so delighted over my experience. I enthusiastically recommend this place to everyone. Thanks to Todd and everyone at SpudToddos for such a wonderful dinner. We’ll be seeing you...
Read moreI came here for my father's day meal and was completely disappointed. First, there's a giant metal pinwheel so when I turned around to go outside I sliced my arm and the brand new dress shirt my wife and kids had just given me. I still have a huge gash and my shirts ruined. When I came back in the crew were all giggling to each other staring at me. They could all stand around talking to each other about me but none of them asked if I was OK or said anything.
The food was weird and meat was extremely low quality. I had turkey that I couldn't tell was only dark meat or if it was overcooked but my wife said her chicken was similar. The entire pan was filled with grease that has to be dumped out the side before eating. Not sure how to describe it other than weird and gross. My wife had eaten the pot roast at another location and said this was terrible compared. That either the location isn't good or they completely downgraded the quality of the food. She has celiac and this is somewhere she was really excited to try but she also hated her meal.
I thought about if this was truly a 1 star experience and it definitely was. The food was bad, the crew sucked, I wasted the money from the gift card my mom gave me on this meal, I have a new scar and my awesome new shirt is trashed and cant be replaced (worn only 1 time). I kinda wish I had never wasted my time going inside. Because it was an awful experience. And looking at the menu I doubt going back would convince me it's a...
