UPDATED: REVIEW BELOW FROM FORMER OWNERS. haven't tried the pozole. Overall, a great place to eat. New owners slimmed down the menu (attached a photo from 8-28-22). The carnitas I had last time were some of the best I have had - tender, juicy and crispy on the outside. I had a taco salad with carne asada today. Pretty good. Fresh. Have a chicken burrito to consume tomorrow but got a little taste of it earlier. They are big items so easily split. Chicken taste had more char flavor if that's your thing. They serve liquor and cocktails now. Ultimately, it is set up to be very fun place to hang out. I hope they get busier and more popular. A Sunday funday would be great there if they got a band outside. Service is lacking bc it is only 2 or 3 ppl running the whole place. Don'tind the man up front. He's not always the friendliest when busy but that doesn't mean he is mean. Menudo was alright. The flavor enhanced once I used the red pepper and oregano they provided. It would have been much better but the tripe had a funky scent that kept messing with my taste buds. The breakfast tacos were awesome. The carnitas breakfast plate was tasty too! The best michelada I have had. They built a good-sized fun patio with good tunes if you're looking for a place to hang out with friends during The Great Quarantine of 2020. They did change their tortilla chips which is a good thing. Nachos were fresh and fulfilling! The salsas here and grilled jalapenos with onions are a great addition

I thought this was a small old restaurant the locals kept alive. I had no expectations really when I arrived. The girlfriend ordered the mega vegetarian burrito and I ordered the carne asada fajita burrito. O.m.g. it came out on a large plate and it was the size of the ENTIRE PLATE! Hers had what I would consider a enchilada sauce on it and it was one of the best restuarant enchilada sauces I have had. The girlfriend is tough to please but she instantly fell in love. She said it was savory, saucy, meaty(though it was a veggie burrito), and the way the veggies were cooked was perfect. Mine had a perfectly toasted tortilla with a slight crust just the way I love it. Think Jimboys without the oil. The fajita meat flavor tasted like delicious steak. the veggies were cooked but still crunchy just the way I like it and the cheese was the binder to bring it all together. It was beyond what I was craving. I love it. She loved it. We will be going back and recommending to our friends. On a side note we didn't care for the salsa all but one of 3 or 4, but we didn't go there for the salsa so no love lost there. Overall amazing, fresh, crispy, saucy goodness! P.s. the picture shows half of the burrito I had to take to go. It fills an entire to-go box. That's insane!

I've been here a few times, but overall do not think the value is great.

Price is very high for Mexican food. ie: $10 - 4 basic small street tacos (no sides). $12 for a plate with 2 things (tacos/enchiladas) and a small portion of beans and rice. F

or take out you're supposed to get free chips and salsa, but the bag of chips is tiny and the salsas are in the to go plastic sauce containers - you get 2. I got this for 2 entrees - not just me. They didn't actually ask how much I wanted, that's just standard.

Had the huevos rancheros before and those are HOT like way too hot without warning - give us a heads up!

The food is ok like 3.5:5, nothing crazy to write home about.

The Ranchero sauce on my enchilada was way too much and overpowered the food. It was a dark red sauce - but again, just too much.

The chicken taco had potatoes or something foreign in them, um what? This was dinner, I didn't' order a chicken breakfast taco. I'm not even 100% it was potato which is actually the scariest part.

The carnitas street tacos were great, and flavorful, but again - $10?!

They have cute outdoor tables and the authentic decor inside is cute - and they are allowing indoor seating. Bathroom is kinda weird - mirrors everywhere and reminds me of a gas station, but that's not part of the rating - just something to note.

Staff is nice enough. I'll probably try them one more time if I'm in the area again, but otherwise (I think) there are much better MX food places in...

*HAIR INSIDE THE BURRITO

Gave them one star because there was no zero! So yesterday Friday, my family and I left the rivercats game and my friend wanted to go eat at this place. I did not want to go because the last time I was there(over five years ago) we seen mouse traps and not only that the drinks were spoiled (horchata). Long story short we went he ordered what he wanted and as he was eating his burrito, big blonde hair and not just one it was quiet a lot. I went to the lady and demanded my money for that plate and told her she should be happy I was not asking for my full refund after we did not finish the food. She answered me by saying we all have our hair up and have dark hair. So basically she tried to say it was my hair when I have dark hair as well and I was not near the food. When we walked out the store the lady came to my car and asked where we left the food and I told her I had given it to the lady that was eating near the kitchen. She made it seem as if I wanted her hairy ass burrito. If you want real Mexican food there are other places in Sacramento and cheaper. You can get two plates for what you would pay for one at Sals.

JARRITOS is my new favorite Mexican Restaurant cheap food, good quality, real food, fresh food and most...
