Using my choice rewards plus cash for the booking, I was allowed early check in Oct 6 (Which was great) to room 211. I went up stairs dropped my bag and headed out for the day. No issues with check in process, parking, or the stay in general. The next day while getting ready I spent a little more time in the room. Noticed things such as the floors being disgustingly dirty, not swept or mopped in awhile. The A/C buttons broken and unreadable. The towels had a certain stench to them (Not all clean). The shower head spray pattern know was broken and leaking all over. The window blind handle on one of the windows was broken and not working properly. Also noticed the lamp shades had spider web cracking from being damaged before but still attached and working properly. Didn't think anything of it, as its what I would expect from a 2 star hotel in that location, I just needed a place to sleep.
Upon checkout everything seemed fine. Left the door open for the cleaning lady who was right outside. About 2 hours later I received a charge on my Amex. I open to find it's a $50 charge from Quality Inn. So I call them to ask about it, the gal at the front desk looked it up and stated it was from broken lamp shades. I explained to her that wasn't from me and I had noticed it during my stay. She asked why I didn't report it, I told her, I didn't see it being a "damage" worth reporting as they were still in tact doing their job... shading of the lamp light. Either way. She wouldn't hear me out or believe me, even when I said I can check my phone to see if there's any pictures to support my case. She said, "That won't matter, our staff doesn't miss things on checkout and management already made it clear they wouldnt drop the charges" and I replied "Apparently they do, because that was damaged prior to my check in and I'm not paying for that. I will be calling Amex to dispute the charges"
So while I wait for the dispute to go through I am writing this review to say. Be careful with this hotel. Pay attention to every little detail in the room because the reality of it is. They could have tried to fraudulently charge me for any one of the damages that already existed. They just happened to choose the $15 lamp shades this time. Who knows how many other people they try doing this to.
I have stayed at countless hotels/motels in my adult life and I've only ever had this issue once before. Some po-dunk motel in CO tried doing the same and fraudulantly charge me with "hazardous cleanup" of a "blood soaked sheets and mattress" 🤣 Sounds like a murder scene apparently. But they refused to provide any evidence of said "damage" so I had no choice but to dispute these claims, because obviously it was a fabricated lie to make more money. They never supplied evidence because it never happened and the charges were dropped.
I am a man of my word and believe I have good morals. If I broke or damaged something, I'd admit it and pay for it. Regardless of what it is. This is straight up fraud, brought on by the hotel to try and make some extra money or get things repaired at someone else's expense....
Read moreI got room at this hotel on June 30th-1st from Expedia. The price for that night was middle road for the area, not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I paid $115 + $12 pet fee and a $100 deposit.
Upon arrival, I was met with a younger kid and an older lady with an accent. The lady was not friendly, but it didn’t impact or ruin my experience.
The room smelled like stale cigarette, but the hotel isn’t a smoking hotel. The towels smelled like stale cigarettes. The bed wasn’t comfortable but the room was clean. I agree with the other reviews- get rid of the old weird couch thing. Everything about the hotel just felt swampy and stale and everything in it had a musky cigarette scent.
I am a single woman from out of town and I brought my Irish setter, which I’m really happy I did because other reviews are not wrong, it’s a bit of a seedy area, especially at night. I went to a concert in Midtown and after the show, pulling onto the specific street this hotel is on, there’s a lot of drug user activities, it’s not just isolated to this hotel. Although there is lots of very obvious camera surveillance, just that itself is a little off putting.
The morning of check out, I was taking out my dog and headed to the lobby to grab a coffee but the lady with the accent refused to let me in the front door and signaled for me to go around. I don’t understand why the lobby would be locked at 7am? Again, not terrible but not friendly, she’s definitely not concerned with guest experience. I didn’t go around, I decided right then I just needed to pack up and check out. Around 8:15, I handed her my two card keys with the intention of putting this whole hotel experience behind me, but here I am writing a review because this company fully charged me that $100 deposit- no hold, no preauthorize, a completed transaction. I called this morning 6/3 and the man who answered the call told me they would refund me in 5-10 business days with the exception of weekend and holidays. I’m sorry, but I’ve NEVER had a hotel deposit post as completed unless it’s fully charged, there’s always a hold and it just drops without posting after a couple of days. I had a feeling about this place because other reviews also had this issue. I called my bank immediately to dispute the $100 because I just don’t trust or expect them to return my money.
I spent $45 MORE (the motel 6 across the street was around $75 total for 1 night) to stay at this hotel vs the hotels around the area expecting a nicer outcome, but travelers, BEWARE. This place is...
Read moreNot sure how this hotel managed to receive 3.5 stars. As the rating drew me here. I was traveling, with my friend and two kids. We are both females. As soon as we get there and the woman had opened up the window for the lobby it smelt like straight-up marijuana, that's where I should have just run away. I ignored the fact thought maybe she is smoking in there that is none of my business. We get keys and park in the back where our room was said to be. Cars of people who clearly weren't guest all over. People walking to the cars and exchanging things. Lots of illegal activity. We thought whatever it's just one night. Everyone in that parking lot saw us walkout, we immediately felt uncomfortable as I mentioned we were two females and two kids alone. We get in the hall and it smells like cigarettes and marijuana, the kids have severe asthma so were already on the wrong foot we walk into the room, and both rooms next to us were playing very loud music. The sheets were dirty, the towels were dirty, everything was stained it was disgusting. I had called the front desk within about 5 minutes of being in the building to let her know about the kid's asthma and our sheets. She walked to our door and handed us our sheets she apologized and I said it was okay. We turned on the AC to see if the smell would linger off and sure enough it didn't. About 20 minutes in I call her again and let her know about the situation and we really don't even feel comfortable being here is there any way we could even get a partial refund to go elsewhere. She tells me that we had discussed the situation and I was okay with everything being the way it was I got very upset because she began to give me an attitude. I proceeded to call Choice Hotels to let them know the situation so they had called the front desk and they had told choice hotels we have been in this room for over 5 hours and they could not do anything about our complaints. Thankfully when we checked in we had received an email and I was able to show them that I was indeed not. Choice hotels were kind enough to help us get in a new hotel FAR away from this one. Don't stay here. Especially if you have young kids, and you are a female traveling alone. Not...
