It's a new place, and we had free coupons to check them out before they officially opened. Since this place is literally a 2 minute walk from my house, I was somewhat excited to have a chicken place to rely on. Our coupons allowed us two meals that cost up to 10 dollars. So both my wife and I maxed out those coupons and got the half chicken meal that cam with two sides. We asked for the order to go, but they handed us the meal on a platter to stay. I checked the receipt and it said "To Go" on it, so not my error. But no big deal, first day errors. I got macaroni and cheese and broccoli for my sides. My wife got black beans and broccoli. The mac and cheese was cheesy, but not very flavorful. The broccoli was fine. The black beans sort of tasted like they came out of a can. The chicken was totally fine, nothing gross nor fantastic. Just good ol' edible chicken, which brings me to the cost. Since the chicken wasn't some blast of flavor that sent my mouth into orgasm, I have to compare it to other available chicken, and as far as I'm concerned I could go right next door to WalMart, pay $5.99 for an ENTIRE rotisserie chicken, and pick up the same sides from their prepared foods section for an additional $5 and feed both my wife the same meal for $9 less. So I guess overall it's an...
Read moreOverflowing trash cans greet you when you arrive at the West Valley 5600 W location. You see the Manager outside sitting on the trunk of her car. I'm assuming it was her because she returned inside and was calling out order numbers. Young man at the order desk was polite and friendly. He took our order and gave us our ticket order #444. We went to find a seat and had to wipe off one of the many dirty tables in the restaurant. Once we sat down I was called back up to the counter to be informed that the store was out of queso sauce for queso chicken nachos I had ordered. I was asked if I wanted regular cheese or I could choose something else. The manager didn't intervene or do anything to help with the situation. She just continued calling order numbers very unprofessional and uncaring. I finally agreed to the regular cheese and got my cold nachos with unmelted cheese a few minutes later. I sat in your fly filled establishment for about 1/2 hour. Not one time did I see any employees cleaning tables, floors or anything in the customer area. Filthy store but it reflects the management and ownership of the store. Sad because not all El Pollo Loco are ran this terrible been in some cleaner, friendlier and properly managed restaurants. This visit was...
Read moreMy husband and I recently moved to West Valley City. We love the tacos at El Pollo Loco and were excited to be so close to this location. The food is tasty but I am not a fan of going inside and being ignored because all the attention is given to the drive-thru customers. This has happened twice now. It also frustrates us to be number 274 and to wait for 30 minutes for a couple tacos and see people who came in after us numbers 278 and 279 get their food before us. It was 95 degrees outside but the temperature inside felt like 60 degrees. We didn't have a jacket or sweater and we were so cold. Everyone standing around waiting and waiting for their food complained about how cold it was in there as well as the long wait for their food. We are no longer excited about eating here. I hope the owners put more effort into serving the people dining inside. It is obvious the staff doesn't show much interest.
EDIT/REVIEW My husband went back to this El Pollo Loco about a month after my first review was written. He ordered his food to go and came home. He took a bite of his taco and pulled out a long piece of plastic from his mouth. We are done giving this place a chance to get things right. Sadly, we will not be...
