I love Peruvian food, but good restaurants are far from where I live. I came across this place, which is halfway between my workplace and home. I decided to try it out, and I am thankful I did. This food was great. Everything tasted good, and the service was excellent. The only bad part (and the reason for 3 stars and not 5 stars) was that the menu had prices that did not reflect what I was charged. The server did not tell me, nor was there any sign anywhere, even on the menu that mentioned the price increase. I assume and hope it is a price increase because if not, then I was overcharged just for eating there. I don't mind the higher prices, but when you are not told and shown a different price on the menu, that is just not right. Hopefully, if it is a price increase, if so update your menus! Or, at the very least, warn customers. I did not notice the overcharge until I returned to work. I took a picture of the menu and, by chance, noticed it. Other than that, this place is clean, the food is excellent and I would return but I'll be asking about the prices for sure next time.
Update: Went again the next day and the food was consistent and great. But it looks like they just haven't updated their menu prices as I was charged a different price again. They don't seem to care or in a hurry to fix it so the 3 stars remain for...
Read moreI try to be understanding whenever a restaurant makes a mistake because there could be a new chef, lack of staff, or a busy night. However, this is not the first time this restaurant has made mistakes. The previous time I ordered had few plates of rice uncooked and were missing items. This time they really messed up when I placed an order for to go. Very disappointed, spent about $200 for a birthday celebration, but the quality of the food in return was awful. The bistec a la pobre was burnt. The rice for some of the plates, were literally still uncooked. The lomo saltado plates came with small 5 pieces of steak. The red salsa was very watered down. Furthermore, I asked for all the items ordered to have the fries on the side in a separate container, but to top it off they forgot to put it in the bag after asking if all the food was ready. After this experience, I will never order from this restaurant ever again, and I hope they can resolve their bad habits for...
Read moreI've eaten there with my family, since it's opening. Our family always used to travel to Lawndale, cerritos, or La Habra to get Peruvian food, so it was a treat to finally get authentic Peruvian food in Whittier. Well authentic was how it started. Little by little, since covid, much has changed from the portion size, the beef used in the Lomo, and now, in 2024, the flavors/seasonings. And my favorite dish at lunchtime cost me 22 dollars. Which came with 2 thumb sized pieces of bread and 1 aji chili cup. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in everything about my meal/experience. Overall, save the 22 dollars because you could more than likely get the same bland taste cooking at home, and feed a family of 4...
