Sam and Nancy's Cafe — Restaurant in Wichita

Went for lunch on a Wednesday, I will first say it is confusing to get to. You have to enter through the bank entrance, I thought it was just me but I watched several people look confused. A sign on the door that is below the restaurant sign would help. The main entrees that day were bierocks, chicken fried chicken, and coconut fish. The coconut fish had good taste but was a little sweet for me as an entrée, but that could just be me. The bierocks were some of the best I've had, packed full of well seasoned meat. The chicken was good, the breading was not crisp but it is a buffet so that is not surprising. That said the breading had great flavor and the chicken was not dry which to me is saying a lot for a buffet. I tried the mashed potatoes and gravy and the mac & cheese for my sides and I had a roll. The roll was pretty dry and a bit hard. The mac & cheese did not have much cheese flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy were great, the seasonings used gave it great flavor. They also have a salad bar but I am not a salad eater so I can't review it other then to say there were plenty of options on it. The deserts looked great but I did not have room to try any. Over all it was a good meal and if you are looking for a buffet I would recommend it. They have different options each day of the week so there are many options to try...

The food here is absolutely delicious! I stopped in for lunch and the buffet had pulled pork, fried chicken, fried catfish, corn, potatoes with gravy and that’s not even counting the fresh salad bar and the dessert table, which are all included in the price.

The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. You can really tell this is a family-run place, and they put a lot of care into both the food and the experience.

The buffet is a cut above standard food found on a buffet. The coconut catfish is delicious and there was a choice of tasty cakes and pies. It also includes soup, salad and beverage. The staff was friendly and made sure we were getting enough to eat (including not to forget to try the dessert). I highly recommend it as a place to eat in downtown Wichita and I will intentionally plan to eat...
