2 very enthusiastic thumbs down. tldr: bad food, very weak drinks, terrible service, creepy door guy
Popped in here last night (before it got busy) for a light dinner and drinks with a few friends. The poor waitress had to come back to our table a comedic number of times because they couldn't make what we ordered. After my 4th order got shut down, I finally ordered a grilled cheese sandwich thinking I'd picked the easiest thing on the menu. My 3 companion's meals came and went. We waited. I was about to cancel my food order because it was hours later and we were ready to leave when the waitress came back, apologized, and said the cook was sorry for the wait, it was on its way out and there would be extra chips for the inconvenience. 20 minutes later and an uncooked grilled cheese with no extra chips arrived at our table. (I thought extra chips was a stupid way to make up for it, but if that's what you say you're going to do, do it). I wrapped the ingredients in a napkin and took them home to make an actual grilled cheese sandwich.
The drink situation was not any better. I'm genuinely questioning if there was alcohol in them at all. Usually, I'm fairly inebriated about halfway into my second beer. I had one of their specialty mixed drinks and 2 doubles... so essentially 5 drinks and never even felt tipsy. Something doesn't feel right with their bar situation.
Needless to say at this point, but I will anyway. We spent lots of money on literally nothing....
Read moreVery cool spot but the staff made the experience uncomfortable. We had a group of four and got drinks at the bar then went to check out the upstairs and one of the bartenders yelled (causing the entire bar to stare up at us) “hey people upstairs!!!” for my husband to not have his drink on the rail. Aggressively. Makes sense- no drinks on the rail- but could you have sent someone up to give us a heads up, or maybe not yelled and then stared up at us for the rest of the time we were there? Then when someone did come up we thought she’d be cool but she was short and not friendly at all. Didn’t make us want to stick around. With going out being as expensive as it is now, we prefer to frequent places that appreciate our business. Guy bartender seemed nice. He was...
Read moreVorshay’s has potential — a lot of it — but right now it’s in need of some TLC. My chair was broken, and the table was so high compared to the seating that it felt like I was dining at a workbench. The whole setup just didn’t flow, like form took priority over function… and lost.
That said, the food wasn’t half bad. There’s a vibe here that could work — if someone actually took the time to fine-tune the details. With better management and some polish, this could be one of those packed, energetic spots like you’d find in downtown Madrid — the kind of place where you can barely move but you’re loving every second.
Right now, though, it’s not quite there. Good luck, Vorshay’s — rooting for...
