The food was good but this was absolutely the worst service I’ve received at any restaurant ever.
First, when we entered we waited for a host to greet us. When one finally came we asked for a table (2 were within sight from the door we entered). Without saying anything the host left. We weren’t sure what was happening. A server came over to greet us and we repeated our request. By this time the host was back and asked us if we would sit at the bar. I wanted to sit face to face to so I said we’d prefer to sit at a table. He said they didn’t have any available. I mentioned the two unoccupied tables that we could see from where we were standing. He then challenged us saying …well those are for 4 people. Never in my life has this ever been a problem and in fact there were other 4 tops that only had 3 or 2 people sitting at them. So why was this a problem for us? It made us feel like we were an inconvenience to them. Not a great way to start and left us with an odd feeling. I said we would prefer the table and they sat us there but their body language communicated everything we needed to know.
It took a while for our server to come to the table which was ok. However, where things went down hill quickly. We both ordered sprites. When it was time to refill the drink she only brought half filled glasses and said that the sprite had run out. Both drinks tasted funny and heavy on syrup and no carbonation. We had to wait 10 minutes for her to come back and check on us for our dinner order. We ordered our meal and we let her know about the drinks. No apology or anything that communicated that she cared. We asked for Diet Coke instead. We also let her know we’d like the garlic for our ramen . She said that the garlic would be brought with the food in a ramekin for us to share. Again another 10 minutes goes by…no drinks… (by this time we’ve waited 20 minutes and don’t have any drinkable drinks) she comes back and says the diet cokes out. All they have is regular. At this point we’d be happy with anything so we say we’d be happy with regular Coke. She NEVER came back to the table. Our food was delivered by another individual. She held the ramen bowl in a way that her thumb was on the INSIDE of the bowl almost touching the broth of the ramen.
The garlic was not brought to the table like she assured us it would and she nor anyone else ever checked back in so we could request it. We ended up eating the ramen without it. We then waited another 15 minutes after finishing dinner. She was not in sight anywhere in the restaurant.
I went and asked another server for a manager. 5 minutes later our server magically materializes. We ask her for a manager since he hadn’t come to the table yet. She didn’t ask why she just left without saying anything. Another 5 minutes and the manager arrives. I explain everything that had occurred and no apology no empathy. Nothing. Just we have been busy.
It’s very obvious this crew including the manager does not have any service experience at all. After talking with the manager I’m sure that their is a lack of leadership and direction as well.
It’s unfortunate that this was our first experience. I don’t have any desire to ever come back to this restaurant to give it a second chance based on how we were treated.
My advice: stay away from this chain and give your money to local business such as Yokahama Ramen or Sakura where they value you and...
Read moreMy family and I had the worst experience here. First off, I want to say I try not to judge people by their looks but if you're going to be a server at a relatively "fine dining" place you should really have all your teeth. Our waitress had no top teeth and it was honestly disgusting. Sorry to be rude. First, I ordered a moscato which took over 15 minutes to get and the restaurant/bar was not busy enough for it to take that long. Second, we ordered the kids dinner and the chicken came out extremely over seasoned, very crunchy but also very chewy at the same time. My son could not eat the chicken at all, he only ate the fries. So I asked if we could talk to a manger and get the kids meal taken off since he didn't eat it. The waitress said "sure, I'll go see what my manager says". Then we get our ramen, my partner and I ordered the same exact ramen bowl and got thick noodles instead of thin but my bowl came with thin. Our waitress came back over and said the kids meal can't be taken off since he ate it (which he didn't, only the fries) and then I told her about my bowl that was wrong and said nothing about that but proceeded to argue with me and accuse me of complaining to get free food. I said please leave and go get your manager. Another server came over and said our waitress was working on getting our food compt. I told him that I'd really like to talk to the manager after that incident. The manager took over 10 minutes to even come over, keep in mind the restaurant was not busy. After she finally came over I explained how rude and argumentative our waitress was and how she said nothing about my bowl that came out wrong and accused us of "only complaining to get free food". The manager walked away and then came back and said she could compt the kids dinner. I had to ask a 3rd time if I was going to be able to get the right bowl I ordered and she made it seem like it was a huge inconvenience that I asked for the food I ordered. She asked "what's wrong with the bowl in front of you", I explained that I didn't get the right noodles and she just looked at me like a deer in the headlights. After that I was completely fed up with the service from both management and the server, I was completely disappointed and honestly shocked that they had the nerve to talk to a costumer the way I was talked to. I will never suggest or recommend Jinya to anyone. Maybe if they weren't so rude and making false accusations I would have understood not taking the kids meal off but it's the fact the server immediately started arguing with me and telling me I'm only doing that for free food. I hope no one goes through the experience I went through when going to this...
Read moreWas a little nervous to try based on the initial reviews, but gave it a shot because the website photos looked so good. I’m very glad we did! We went on a Monday evening but there were quite a few people dining in. Our waitress was super friendly and kind, she checked on us multiple times throughout our dinner. The food didn’t come out super fast but it definitely wasn’t as bad as reviews make it out to be. When we go to dinner, we usually are going as a social thing, so I don’t mind not having speedy service - it’s a sit down restaurant, not fast food. I would not describe it as slow service. The staff let us have time to enjoy our food and conversation. Our appetizers came out in under 10 minutes and our ramen arrived right as we finished the apps. We ordered crispy rice with spicy tuna and the creamy spicy shrimp tempura for appetizers. Super impressed with the shrimp tempura and I loved the spicy tuna on the rice (I wasn’t as big a fan of the crispy rice part but my friends liked it - all had good flavor though). We each tried different ramen and each one had different broth flavors which I liked - they didn’t all taste similar. Both the thin noodles and thick noodles were good. I loved the pork in mine, and the tofu in the spicy creamy vegan ramen was delicious with a great texture!! Tasty broth, and the mushrooms I ordered as an extra were great because they came chopped up rather than as big mushroom caps or slices. Made it easier to mix in. The sauces on the table were tasty too. And the egg that came in our ramen bowls - oh my god it was delicious. I did think it was a little weird that they only provide you with chopsticks and a spoon at first - I’m sure you could ask for a fork but we didn’t. It did slow us down a little eating with only chopsticks (we’re not as used to that). Overall, loved the vibe of the place and the location, food was good and I’d definitely go back again. For three of us, we each ended up paying around $25. Not an every day kind of meal for us but a great place to relax and make a normal day feel a bit more special. They have outdoor seating which will be great as it gets warmer. I think it’s great that Wichita has a place like...
