I will try to keep it short and in parts.
I have read a few negative reviews, and based on what happened today, it was complete opposite. It was a great place for me to stop by and eat. I have attached a picture of their prices that they had up, and I definitely agree with how much it costs to eat with their great service.
Food: there is a lot to select from and is fresh, but one station is closed. They may not have everything, but they have enough food for you to eat and be happy.
Sushi: I can't even start from many varieties they have. There was a lot to select from today. There was even a sushi with nuts in it. Something I have never seen before on other buffets that I have been.
Workers: The workers are really nice and helpful. They even still follow the Covid rules by wearing a mask. They are always on a watch out to refill your drinks and take away the dirty plates. Today was a bit crowded, but they try their best to have their customers. 2 examples I can give is: I asked a question where something is, a worker politely showed me where the food item was. When I was trying to get the tofu out to my miso soup on a cup (from the big cans/pots) a worker that was putting out food politely helped me by getting tofu out and into my cup of miso soup.
Insides: They keep the place clean. The bathroom kinda looks nice compared to one I have read (It looks like they try to keep it clean, but there might be "those" type of people who can make it into an unpleasant looks), but the motion camera on the faucets is a bit wierd and requires you to put your hand close to it... Not the buffets fault, but the company who made the faucets.
Sad parts: There was one station closed (as I have mentioned before) and the chocolate fountain wasn't working... I am not going to judge this because Covid has affected many others buffet in the same way.
Overall, one of the great buffets I have been in some time. Did not experience any problems mentioned in the negative reviews. 5 stars, amazing job Royal House Buffet!
Quick Side note: today was a bit crowded as I said, so they may work more on the weekends than on weekdays, plus there might be different workers on different days, which might have caused the negative reviews, but to what I had today was amazing (Sunday,...
Read moreThis location honestly had best service and had best selection of food in the area as far as buffets go pre covid! Given we go to this location 90-95% of the time we go to Wilkes Barre I can give a better review. Over the years we have noticed a difference in quality and selection this was by far the best buffet between Wilkes Barre PA and Vestal NY. This was my preferred location! I don't know if it was because of covid or not but I have noticed over this past year plus the selection has gotten less, sometimes the hot wings are burnt and dry and sometimes spot on perfect. The sushi is not kept up with like it should be. You have to wait forever for more to be made and put together. There has been no salmon which is my favorite! We love the nigiri and sashimi and would eat plates of just that versus the sushi but again this is a problem with most locations the nigiri and sashimi are not constantly available which gets super frustrating! I also love general tsos chicken but I noticed this location makes it really mild and it would be nice if they added more flavor or spice to it. This location also used to have raw clams which they haven't had in quite some time either. I dont know if they even have oysters available all the time. I know we would prefer raw clams over cooked/boiled/steamed any day! I look forward to the selection and quality going back to pre covid times. It has gotten to the point where when we go to Wilkes Barre I don't want the buffet. I want to try something completely different! I get so tired of being disappointed or feeling like we are playing Russian roulette with what we are going to see or have on the buffet. Again this location is hit or miss and we keep going in hopes we get to the point where we are never disappointed and we have enjoyable meals every visit and look forward to coming back each and every time!! Update we went back this afternoon and yes I was still very disappointed with their lunch selection options and quality of some of the food...
Read moreThis Buffet used to be the best in the area however it has declined through the years. I will say this currently is a 50/50 restaurant. The food, customer service, atmosphere, and etc vary from day to day.
They have increased the price of the buffet to around $12 for lunch with just plain water as a drink.
Some of the food items at the buffet taste good and the others taste bad. Then if you were to come in the next day it would be reversed. The ones that tasted bad now taste good and the other ones that tasted good now taste bad (50/50). Lack of food consistency. The hibachi grill is only open Wednesday through Sunday.
Customer service it's 50/50. I've had excellent customer service and bad customer service. Varies day to day. For example: I went there yesterday on 1-21-2023. The customer service started out great until you have more than 2 plates worth of food. Then they give you nasty looks and if you're there more than 30 minutes they ignore you + they rush you out the door by giving you the check before you're finished eating and demand prompt payment. I think this is very rude behavior. You should have time to enjoy your food.
Unfortunately since this is the only Chinese, Japanese, and etc buffet in the area. They present themselves dominant and you are stuck going to this one because they do not have any rival buffet to contend with. Whether you love it or hate it this is the only one in the area. I feel if there was another buffet of this style in the area they would have to up their game to...
