We we're so excited to be traveling through Williams AZ on May 17, 2022. So we could dine at the Red Raven Restaurant, however the experiences we've had in the past wasn't meant to be for us this time. We we're seated quickly which was nice as we had no reservations and expressed our delight in being back at the restaurant. Might have been our mistake. Luis our waiter right off we could tell he wasn't there for any personal experience, nice enough just short and not forthcoming at all. We got our beverage order had to ask for water which was unusual. Started with the mussel and clams, half the bowl was dead unopened shells with one small piece of bread we ripped in half. My husbands Mediterranean salad was good and so was my simple green salad very fresh however I had to remove my salad to a smaller plate as it was swimming in about an 1/8 of a cup of house dressing. I had the basil butter salmon with couscous and asparagus. It was served luke warm the couscous bland and tasteless and the Salmon rare, I ate around the edges and left the fish on my plate. I conversed with Luis at the end of the meal where he stated he should have mentioned the Salmon is served rare to medium rare and yes I should have asked for medium well but as I stated in the beginning he wasn't there for the personal service. My husbands NY Strip which he asked for medium rare, was pale and served luke warm not a beautiful sizzling steak we've enjoyed in the past, his mashed potatoes were thin almost like instant. One highlight was the tempura broccolini. We opted to skip dessert at this point, but please be assured Luis received his 20%. A couple of other things also, but just not the experience we've come to enjoy at the Red Raven. Sadly The Red Raven won't be our first choice next time we're in Williams. I realize these reviews mostly fall on def ears but really felt like I needed to address the...
Read moreMy wife and I live 120 miles away and stayed at the Grand Canyon Inn (next door) area was safe. Seen two foot patrol officers multiple times, good parking. I made dinner reservations for 6pm. We arrived and were seated immediately. Dining area was spacious, very high celines. The room felt comfortable decor was nice. For starters we ordered fried zucchini sticks and fried portabella mushrooms. I did not care for the dipping sauce some vinaigrette type dressing, but it wasn't needed (good without). Then followed up with seafood soup. Not sure exactly was in it, but it was excellent. We each had the 8oz filet mignon. Both were cooked as ordered, very tender and a true 8oz. I had Tempura broccoli, didn't care for it. I think because the batter was the same as the fried zucchini and mushrooms. It was a little crunchy for me. Never had broccoli that way before so I decided to try it however I did eat all of it. The red potatoes were good but I would have rather had a large baked potato ( not offered on menu). My wife had grilled asparagus (good but small portions maybe 5-7 pieces and red potatoes. They offer a wide variety of wines, beers and other beverages. The staff was great. Everyone was cheerful and not overly stressed. Seemed like they had adequate staffing. The bill came out to about $140 with tip. Although I mentioned a couple of things above, I did leave there with a full stomach and we plan on returning again do to the Red Raven being an overall...
Read moreFor several years we have been staying in Williams every July & August for a total of 5 weeks. We really enjoy going to the local establishments. The highlight and favorite experience are always the Red Raven which we consider the high-end restaurant of Williams. The service, food and wine list has always been excellent and the highlight of our stay. Multiple dinners at the Red Raven are the norm in these 5 weeks visits. For the first time we had a less than stellar experience on July 15, 2022. Reserved our usual window table and noticed a few changes to the menu. On the appetizer front the Southwestern Egg Rolls and Thai Shrimp are no longer on the menu. Clearly two of the best appetizers made by the red Raven. Then we noticed the basket of bread is no longer complimentary and must be ordered at $6. Making this change in the high-end restaurant of Williams is a bad move and quite honestly a mistake. It compares to airlines charging for peanuts after you spend hundreds of dollars for your ticket. I get it, the rising cost of food and supplies to run a nice restaurant is challenging but for goodness sakes don’t stoop to charging for bread. If need be, bury the $6 cost in the overall dining bill but don’t put it in the face of the customer. We will be back to Williams next week for a couple weeks and would love to eat at the Red Raven again. Please consider making some changes. I would love to follow this up with a 5...
