We got two double queen size rooms at the lodge, I am not sure why people love it, the bathroom had hair on the floor, indication it was not cleaned well of course, the motel is run down and certainly need upgrading. old furniture, no closet in the room and beds totally uncomfortable and lumpy pillows, obviously the owners only care to make money but not give anything back, as for breakfast, well there really is nothing good about it, it is totally whatever, even the coffee was lousy, we had to drive to safeway for Starbucks every morning to get coffee and had to have breakfast outside the hotel. The owners are so cheap that I forgot a heat pad in the room, and when I called them to ship it back, they said the only way to get it is to send it collect, so I suggested that they only send me the cover which fits in a regular envelope and ways nothing, they still wanted to send it collect, it would not cost more than a lousy $1.00 to mail it, but they refused and wanted me to mail them a self addressed envelope with postage in order for them to mail the cover back to me...how cheap are these owners. This place is not worth your money, there are many other better places to stay in. These people have no clue as to what customer service means if a $1.00 is too much for them to...
Read moreI have no idea why other people rate this place highly or why the place claims it's "affordable luxury." We had numerous problems - including major safety issues. This was a "Queen Suite with Full Kitchen [with forks and knives, but no spoons]" including a queen bed, and sofa sleeper in the sitting area, and small dining table. The heater/ac unit was in the bedroom, which meant if anyone was using the one person sofa sleeper, they either went without heat or AC, or they had to use the gas fireplace for warmth. The problem with that? The foot of the bed (and sheets, etc) was only a few inches from the intense heat of the fireplace, creating a fire risk. The bathroom could only be accessed through the bedroom - and the bathroom pocket door was below the level of the new flooring, so incredibly difficult to open and close. The sofa partially blocked the bedroom door, impeding access, also a safety risk because the only way out in an emergency was through that partially blocked door. Other concerns: they left dirty linens on the sofa sleeper for us to use (and no spare clean ones), dirty bathroom floor, smelly sleeping bag instead of clean, warm blankets, and when we arrived, the side door to the small patio was unlocked! (Door also partially blocked...
Read moreI would not recommend staying at this lodge on Route 66, particularly if you’re traveling with items that require refrigeration, such as breast milk. Upon arrival after a long day on the road with infants, we found the room’s refrigerator was non-functional. Apparently, it’s standard practice for the lodge to turn off the refrigerators between guests. Their ‘solution’ was to offer access to another room’s fridge across the parking lot, but that fridge had also just been turned on and took hours to reach a suitable temperature. We were left scrambling to find an ice chest in town at an inconvenient hour.
The cleanliness of the room was equally disappointing. We found hair in the bathtub and on the floor, and fingerprints smeared across the counters. For a hotel that claims to be five stars, the standards were shockingly low. This lodge is far from luxury—it’s barely average. Frankly, you’d be better off at a La Quinta Inn, where at least you’d know what to expect. This lodge fails miserably to live up to its supposed five-star status, and I will not...
