If you’re going to Las Vegas from Flagstaff. Dont miss this place , it has a lot of history! Route 66, also known as the Mother Road, was one of the original highways in the U.S. Highway System. Williams, Arizona, is a town located along Route 66 in northern Arizona. Williams is a popular stop for travelers exploring Route 66 due to its nostalgic charm and well-preserved historic downtown area. Some of the attractions in Williams related to Route 66 include: Historic Route 66: You can drive along the historic Route 66 through Williams and experience the classic Americana feel of the old highway. Shops and Diners: Williams has many shops, diners, and motels that have retained their retro charm from the Route 66 era. Be sure to stop by some of these establishments to get a taste of the past.

I recently visited Williams, Arizona, a charming little town along historic Route 66, and it was such a delightful experience! The town is full of vintage Americana vibes with neon signs, classic diners, and unique souvenir shops lining the main street. The people are incredibly friendly, and there’s so much history to explore, from old-fashioned gas stations to the Route 66 memorabilia everywhere. Williams is also known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon, so it’s a great stop if you’re heading there. I loved the nostalgic feel, and the atmosphere is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Plus, there are plenty of cozy cafes and spots to grab a bite. Highly recommend visiting if you’re a fan of classic road trip stops or just want to experience a cute, laid-back town!

Easily accessible mural of the historic Route 66 sign. Written across it is that the town of Williams, AZ was the last to be bypassed by Interstate 40, completed in October of 1984. There is parking in front of the wall that it's on, but at least the mural is high enough to not really be covered up by the vehicles that park there.

The sign is actually located at the northern end of Williams as you drive in from the north. The sign is painted on the sidewalk beneath the "Welcome to Williams, Arizona" sign. It's easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled. There is another Route 66 mural by the Circle K gas station as well. You will also find plenty of Route 66 tin signs posted on the light poles throughout the city....
