Siiiigh.... Food was flat-out unimpressive (plate descriptions below). No effort put into food construction or presentation. No one in management has tasted this food in quite some time. If so, they have the palate of a 2nd grader.
Turkey Melt- Welllll below sub-par: more bread than Turkey (2 measley slices folded/stacked in the center to create the illusion of being stuffed), one tomato heel and the cheese wasn't even "melted" over the turkey (just warmed onto the toast). One of the laziest and most poorly constructed sandwiches I've ever had to the tune of $13.99. Fries were just plain and not seasoned...
Texas Red Burger or Something Like That - Appetizing description but sadly, the cornbread overpowered the chili (how does that happen?) and the burger was cooked to order but starving for seasoning/salt. Same simple fries...
10 Hot Wings (app) - just plain NO. Inedibly overcooked (plus obviously pre-made), salty/sour and the sauce was made by a culinary school dropout. Hot wings doesn't mean buffalo+heat. Try a garlic base or a dry lemon pepper please!...
That Sounds Good Salad - well described because it just "sounds good"! ... but it was poorly executed and presentation was atrocious. Burnt bacon, visibly dry/overcooked chicken, light on dressing and messy looking overall.
Shrimp Alfredo Pasta - the most expensive of all the dishes we ordered. After tasting a few plates, I didn't want to bother. The shrimp itself looked fine, but I'm confident the same follies were at work. Looked suspiciously like bulk Alfredo sauce and poorly seasoned overall. When Alfredo sauce is the same color as mayo, I'm always leery. $18.99.
Conclusion: Hard Pass. I don't need to come back here. I love flavorful food and I'm an amateur cook only at my very best, and I'm positive I could make every one of these dishes better and for cheaper. This Diner had way too many high marks (4.6* on Google) to let them slide on poor kitchen performance and lack of culinary oversight. Food is clearly premade because it took 15 minutes to get our food on a busy night. Nothing special to see here and certainly nothing special...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE!! NOT CELIAC SAFE!!! A total tourist trap, which I can be completely down for, but is completely misleading for those of us eating gluten free. Encouraged by the gluten free reviews, we stopped on our cross country road trip to enjoy a dinner after not eating all day. I was immediately on guard from their beef and barley soup of the day being advertised as gluten free, which cannot be possible.
As a celiac I am used to bringing my own food and planning ahead, I know gluten free can be inconvenient so I was happy to find a place that advertised gluten free options on their menu. On arrival I tried to confirm that the options were celiac safe and ask questions about safety procedures, which I get can be inconvenient, but I approached the waiter in a completely friendly manner and was met with eye rolls and complete dismissal. I politely tried again when my salad came out, and the girl cut me off mid sentence with a short “it’s fine,” before walking off.
My sweet tea glass had some kind of black substance smeared on the inside of the glass, which I didn’t notice until after I’d already drank some, and after the blatant rudeness I was genuinely scared to say something and risk getting my drink spit in. I immediately felt nauseous after eating half my salad, despite them “confirming” it was gluten free, and I suspect I will steadily get more ill over the next several hours (as that’s how my symptoms typically progress). I can’t say that a mediocre $15 salad is worth the impending days of debilitating nerve pain and brain inflammation awaiting me.
Even if you eat gluten DO NOT eat here. There are cooler touristy places to eat right on Main Street, and my gluten-eating husband was disappointed by the $20 chicken strips that were terrible and the literal hair in his glass of tea. As for my fellow celiacs or those with a gluten sensitivity, you are better off trying a different place or buying lunchmeat from the...
Read moreI'd avoid gambling on their mediocre, inconsistent food quality that's accompanied by terrible customer service.
I'm a tour guide, been here a handful of times and usually recommend it to my guests but I'm done with this place, for me and my guests. The food is alright, I've had two bad experiences, one was a side salad with tomatoes that were visibly withered and not good anymore and once I ordered the ham steak which is advertised as a "hefty slice" of ham for $15 that I literally laughed at when they served it to me because it couldn't have been more than 8oz.
The food isn't the problem really, it's the customer service, they truly do not care about the customers here. Almost every time I've been here I end up having to reorder a side I wanted or correct a mistake like having asked for a extra piece of toast (free) and getting served four pieces of toast and being charged for it, not a huge deal but it gets old when it happens almost every time I've been in. Also, both times I had bad food experiences here I pointed out to my server I wasn't happy with the food and they just said "okay", never offered to remake the food, never offered a discount or a comp, zero effort to accommodate. The last time I was here I was at the front paying and was asked how my meal was I stated the food tasted fine but the "hefty" ham steak that was $16 was very disappointing in size and the response I got was "cash or card?". That was the nail in the coffin for me.
They're extremely uneducated and under trained about how customer service should be handled in a restaurant and I'm not sure if they don't have a manager or they just don't relay customer complaints to the manager but either way they lost me as a customer and the many guests I used to recommend this place to.
Maybe get rid of the tip pool so your servers actually get tipped what they deserve instead of mooching off the people there making a...
